This is my first thread post. This is my biggest beef and its not with the Panthers. Its with the "fan base." Or lack there of.

Since I was old enough to know about the game I've wanted a home team. I've now got one. From 1955 to 1994 I've pulled for Huff and the Giants, Huff and the Skins, Tarkenton and the Vikes, Payton and the Bears, The Falcons because they were the closest thing to home. And the Canadians over the Cowturds. When the Panthers came to town I (we) now have a home team. It is disgraceful the home support they get! All I hear from Carolinian's is "I've always pulled for ___________. All I can say to these people is "kiss my ____!" You are part of the problem! When I go to a game and see half the stadium in the opposing teams colors I want to puke! And worse yet wheather we are winning by 20 or losing by 20 by the beginning of the 4th quarter Panther fans are outnumbered because everyone leaves but the opposing teams fans. Just once I'd like to see the Panther fans get a delay of game penalty.

I go when I can afford to go and I stay to the end win or lose. I've only missed three games from the armchair when I can't; and I have good reasons for that. Unlike New York, LA, Miami etc North and South Carolina aren't states that "everyone" has migrated. As many here I've lived in NC all my life. Without fan support I won't have a home team to support. The Hornets are an excellent example of lack of support. So I won't "get over it."

Well, you better get over it, cause our fan base won't improve. Maybe, just maybe, if we get a coaching staff that know what the hell they are doing and can win us a Super Bowl and get us TO the NFC Championship game every couple years, yeah. But until that happens, old people and people who go to football game the same way they go to golf tournaments will fill the stands at BoA.

"We're here, we're lame, GET USED TO IT!" is the chant our fans should know by now. :rolleyes:

But unless you are there every week rooting for the team you don't have a dime in it nor can you throw stones because you aren't part of the solution. You are like others who whine and complain about the poor fan base but you are no better. You aren't there nor are you filling up all those seats with Panther fans so there aren't any for the opposition.

I get tired of fair weather fans who sit on their butts at home and whine about the poor fan base at the game. At least we are out there in the heat and rain supporting our team instead of sitting at home whining.

You do realize that this "Lackadaisical" fanbase is still showing up to watch this crapfest, rain or shine, right?

It's one thing to sit at home and holler at the box, then going online and complaining some more(which I do). But I will never complain, antagonize, insult, or question the "fans" that go out every Sunday to watch this team.

True, but not all of us are fortunate enough to a) be close enough to the stadium to make every home game, or a majority. B) have the time/money to make more than a game, maybe 2 all year.

I want to make the Bears game or some game in the second half of the season (most likely December during my Christmas break from college, as I will be in Cleveland County then and it's a pretty reasonable drive and I will definitely have the cash to do it). It all just depends on the circumstance for some of us. I've been to a few games in my time, so I know how the fans are when I've been there, standing and cheering for the team I love and live vicariously through (sport IS a religion after all).

Just saying, don't be quick to judge people just because they may not be PSL owners or they don't make 6 of the 8 home games. People have their reasons for not making games.

On the flip side, if you HAVE the means for making games and you bitch about it, STFU and buy a damn ticket.

Well, first you have to appreciate where I'm coming from. When I was at the Arizona playoff game, I was down in the 100s (with a family member) and we were going nuts the whole game. I was asked to sit and quit waving my towel by more than one person around me. I had a guy in the row above me get escorted out for being too "loud and vulgar" (basically, all he said was, "GET OFF YOUR ASS, JAKE!"). So, yeah, it may just be the wine and cheesers who are the crappy fans.

I've sat in the 500's, and those guys are what I consider, "my kinda people". Standing over 90% of the game and loud for at least that much of it. So, on the whole, we've still got a pretty calm crowd, IMO. It's hard to get mathematical with it as far as percentages of the crowd. Upper deck fans know how to come to a game (drunk and loud, baby!). :yesnod:

      Yep, like I said, I don't mind guaranteeing them money, but make the contracts smaller amounts in order to minimize cap implications. I don't know about "half," the actual amounts, whether more or less than half, would have to be determined by the NFL and NFLPA (which will probably be highly contentious, if not "impossible").  I'm just for whatever leads to the best product on the field while also unaffecting my wallet. As an aside, the NFL owners are greedy bastards in my estimation. They're trying to keep a larger portion of the pie, but players' agents are greedy as well, and they've sewn seeds of greed among the players. It's not all their fault; we all know what our society has evolved into, but the NFL wants a bigger piece of our smaller pocketbooks and refuses to "negotiate" with us (that's why we don't have cheaper and more reasonable à la carte options to view games that they're gradually trying to migrate to paid TV), so fu<k 'em. And then on top of that we have guys trying to water down the product even more by feeding greed. Change the way things are done so that we can at least see players prove themselves on the field without throwing wrenches into the engine that pays guys that have proven they can play on a pro level.

      OK, I didn't realize this was about high school, but...if I'm spending my personal money trying to help some kids out, then no one is going to tell me how to spend my money. I get enough of the government spending my money--allocating my tax dollars--to children who don't really need anything, and now they're trying to tell me how to spend my personal money? Sure, there are many other issues to consider and rabbit holes that we could go down due to ethical concerns because it concerns kids, and the need for transparency is extremely important, but maybe as opposed to trying to stop kids from benefitting in darkness, we need to open up the blinds (and blinders) a little bit so that they can benefit in the light. I get where you're coming from, but this is a loaded and layered issue, and I'm just trying to give you some food for thought.
