Clausen compared to other QBs first NFL start

First NFL start statistics:

Troy Aikman- 17/35 180 yards no TDs 2 INTs

Tom Brady- 13/23 168 yards no TDs no INTs (followed by 12/24 86 yds no TDs no INTs and 2 lost fumbles the next week)

Not time to press the panic button yet folks. Lets give him a couple of more games to get acclimated.

I agree. He needs time and more games.

But we should also slow down the "Future of the Franchise" talk. Let's wait till he wins 2-3 games and start looking like Brady and Aikman started looking after they got their uglies out of the way before any more talk of Rookie of the Year awards or The Future.

Honestly I felt he wasn't ready yesterday. He wasn't ready as a starter despite Fox telling me he practiced just as much as Moore. Didn't look like he was ready for a full game just yet. But now that he's in, he should stay in.

Now at some point in the future I would like to see at least 1 win this year and I don't care who we have to put in or bench as QB to get it.

Matt Moore - 2007 against Seattle - 19/27, 208 yards, 0 TD, longest pass 54 yards, 0 INT

Joe Flacco - 2008 against Cincy - 15/29, 129 yards, 0 TD, longest pass 15 yards, 0 INT

Matt Ryan - 2008 against Detroit - 9/13, 161 yards, 1 TD, longest pas 62 yards, 0 INT

Matt Stafford - 2009 against New Orleans - 16/37, 205 yards, 0 TD, longest pass 64 yards, 3 INT

I think it's absurd they quit on Moore after 2 games in a year where the team is rebuilding yet stuck with Delhomme's poor play for nearly 2 years when the team was much stronger.

Moore and Clausen get blindsided 2-3 times a game and have terrible play calling and a stale running game going against them.

The fact they quit on Moore instead of fixing the play calling, run game and oline suggests they are incompetent and will simply throw Clausen to the wolves. I feel bad for Clausen. Hopefully with his mobility he will be able to avoid a serious injury.

i knew someone was going to say this....you know what the difference between delhomme and moore? while delhomme was a decent qb that got alot worse...moore is a NEVER was...he has never been good and does not have the history to fall back on...what are going to stick with a guy that you have never had faith in to begin with in the hopes that he suddenly plays better?

Regarding stats, also worth noting that Clausen finished with the same passer rating as Carson Palmer..actually a few ticks higher.

If the QB play was statistically equivalent, and one team won 20-7, there is obviously a lot else at play.

Moore played extremely well at the end of last season and played decent in a few appearances in 2007. Clausen made a few plays in preseason and in today's game but his QB rating is dreadful for every game he's played IIRC.

I think Moore and Clausen are both mediocre NFL QBs that won't do much without a well built offense around them which the Panthers don't have. At least Moore has had a good game before though.

Both QBs are young so I do not see the point in the QB change and giving a guy 2 starts before benching him is just weak unless he's losing games for you solely on his bad play.

This team is a joke though and it's pointless to argue about the stupid decisions this team repeatedly makes.

      Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.

      Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.

      Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
