Awesomeness!!

I don't mean to be rude, but geez this is beyond stupid. We NEED WRS, why would we trade the best one (IMO) away? And trade Smitty for who? What? What NFL team would take Smitty a 5'9 31 year old WR, and give us anything that isn't garbage? This isn't the NBA. Nothing we get will be the saving grace. We're still going to suck this year regardless. lol @ Lafail being the number 1 WR.

I would however trade Smitty if we REALLY wanted to leave, and I would not blame him. He isn't Pep (can we still say "Pep" on this forum?)

Well if JR is willing to mail it in to save some bucks by driving down salaries in the league, then Smith at least deserves to get traded to a team that is playoff caliber. He isn't going to be good long enough for this thing to get turned around. I won't be happy that he is gone, but it's not like it really even matters. We aren't going anywhere this year or probably next, so why not? He'll be 33 then anyways.

The fact is, by the time this team is ready to compete seriously (not this year, and definitely not next year), Smith will be pretty old for a NFL player. I'd like him to have success too, instead of being wasted even more years here by horrible coaching and a retarded dinosaur owner. Think long term, cause short term this team is not going anywhere.

Yea, I think that was the point of the Observer article. I wouldn't consider it though until after the Saints game. But I wouldn't trade him to an NFC team. If they are willing, the Jets or Steelers would probably be a good candidate.

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
