We need an OFFENSIVE minded coach

No need to look further than the current winners and losers of the las few years. That whole strong defense good running game crap is going way out of style. The goal of every game is to score more points than the other team, but with this coach its been nothing but lets go up by 3 and hope they dont score. Im tired of that crap, unless you have a superstar studded defense, that is not the way to go. We are 0 & 4 because of this idea that we win games with defense. YEAH you used to win, but only if your d is the s hit and you have a better qb than a practice squad caliber scrub and a rookie handing off to 10 in the box.

After a brief look I can't find anyone I'd really want currently in the NFL that would be "offensively minded." Except maybe Tom Moore (OC Colts) but good luck getting him away from Indy.

That leaves Gruden or Billick and really who wants either of them or expects them to come back from broadcasting?

I'm not up on college coaches so maybe there is someone there but we all know how that transition can go.

Are you kidding me you would call the patriots, colts, saints, packers ......run first teams?

Colts: mentioned Tom Moore as someone I would take.

Pats: No OC

Saints and Packers: Perhaps a good possibility but likely would result in a drastic personnel shift in our offense that may not go over well with the fanbase.

Teams with first round superbowl winning quarterbacks

If you think the Steelers and Giants won with offense first mentalities you are clueless. Granted, today you need to have a franchise QB to win a Super Bowl, but just as many defense minded have won v. offense minded as of recent.

Your chances of being consistant, and getting to the playoffs year in and year out are much better if you have a blue chip QB.

Not saying that you have to have a "franchise" QB to win the SB, just saying that your odds of winning one over a 10 year span are greatly improved if you have one.

Colts, Pats, Steelers (I am iffy on this one), Chargers, etc. seem to make the playoffs every year for the most part, it has everything to do with QB play, and not as much what type of coach is running the show.

I am not disagreeing with you, but I do not agree with the original poster that you have to have an Offense oriented team to win today. The Steelers has always been the team that the Panthers "wanted" to be like. There hasn't been a more consistent team in the NFL and they are Defense oriented.

All I am saying is the NFL goes through trends. Now, the trend is pass heavy. Seems like people just remember the Saints and Colts and forget how the Steelers and Giants won.

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
    • Totally possible imo, I also caught that snippet from Morgan where he said “If” we sign him. The lack of competition says otherwise tho 🤷‍♂️
