With the #1 overall pick in the 2011 draft, Carolina picks....

Who?? With the way things are going, seems that reality is not too far fetched. And i actually think we have a first round pick in 11 and did not trade it away, right? So what is our most important position in need next season? I think QB is not, Clausen has some growing up to do, but i think he will eventually turn into a decent QB. I think our focus needs to be the O or D line. Followed very closely by the secondary. We could use another star receiver, someone who can play next to smitty, with as much gout. It would need to be someone who can take the pressure off of 89.

P.S. To the Carolina Coaching staff, we are 0-4. Don't be afraid to take chances and let the guys play. Maybe go for it on 4th and 1. Maybe instead of always rushing in the middle, let DW or JS break one to the outside. Stop being so damn predictable.

my question is if there is a lockout in 2011 how does the draft go?

seeing how there will be more talent to choose from 2011 and 2012 draft classes so what happens?

a. a regular draft with extra talent in supplemental draft?

b. a 14 round draft?

c. multiple picks for each team in a 7 round draft? (if so how are the extra picks delegated)

just a burning question that i can seem to find an answer for. thoughts?

What we really need to do is invest in cloning technology so that we can replace Smitty with a new Smitty.

That or invest in medical technology that will enable him to stay in his current condition for the next 20 years, because God knows thats how long it's going to take to get a competent QB and win a Super Bowl.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
