Armanti Edwards

Punisher

I think they need to keep him learning the WR position, if he was that great of a QB, wouldn't teams have sought after him more in the draft? Personally I do not like the WildCat, the only team that i've seen that can run effectively time after time is Miami. Edwards at QB, and we havent even seen him throw the ball in the NFL, one play for a five or six yard gain, and everyone wants this guy at QB? Are you kidding?

It his size not skills that kept him from NFL QB. He was a phenomenal quarterback.

I'll agree with the 32 NFL scouting and player development personnel who don't think Armanti is an NFL QB. Not knocking those of you that may have watched him more than me, but if it's an argument I know nothing about I tend to side with the smartest guy in the room.

I agree 100%. I haven't seen him play much either, but I tend to believe just from looking at him that he has that "Vick-like" ability. With our O-line being non existent most of the time he may at least turn those sacks for losses into small gains..

I don't think 32 NFL scouting and developmental people said that. He had interest from about 20 NFL teams. NE Patriots and several teams wanted him bad.

Put Armanti Edwards in at QB. Screw any "experts" that say he can't do it. These "experts" probably said that Steve Smith could never become a good receiver.

Tom Brady 6th rounder

I don't disagree but sometimes they are wrong.

Just because 32 teams didn't take him in the first and second round doesn't mean that 32 teams worth of talent scouting personnel thought that Armanti wasn't NFL caliber talent at QB. There were quite a few that believed he could be a QB and several teams worked him out at QB rather than WR, the Patriots and Eagles being among them. The fact is, he played at a Div1-FCS school and would never have been a 1st or 2nd round pick unless he was over 6'2" so teams were waiting.

He would actually be a pretty good QB prospect. There is nothing that can be done about it this year or maybe at any point now, but from that small sample of today and preseason, I like it. As a WR, I don't think he can get by most CB's but he still doesn't look like a bust. I saw more from him this game than I did all of Jarrett's first year.

We have nothing to lose at this point,so why not use him more,it could start a much needed spark.Just saying....

Didn't people say the exact same thing when the Falcons drafted a guy named Brett Favre?

Bingo

It seems like John Fox has an issue with Armanti, i was watching hes press conference and someone asked him about the 2 plays with Armanti in, and he made a sny remark like "I must have missed that play, but i think it was 7 or 8 yards im not gonna argue with you, it wasen't a first down"

Like Jimmy Clausen got a first down.

Wow WTF is he smoking he must have the first medical marijuana pass in NC if he didn't notice the kid plays it was one of the only time the offense went FORWARD all day.

Its just funny we mixed it up and it moved the chains and we NEVER DID IT AGAIN seriously why is that??? I dont want to start another thread on AE but why did we not try the formation at least one or two more times after we realized JC cant read anything inside the numbers.....??????????

They are wrong many of times, I dont know what he would or could become but I def know he needs way more touches we need a spark f**k that we need Tim Mcvey's detanator switch.

Might want to check the facts, we never "moved the chains" with the mountaineer. The first play was a 6 yard loss on a reverse for Gettis, then a 7 yard run for Edwards.

I stand corrected we moved the football forward, I would expect the very first mount play wouldn't be perfect the very next snap he showed his skill set and playmaking ability. Why did we only run it twice back to back at that and never open that page of the play book up again.???

We used up all of Davidson's plays on the first two.

Hahahhahahaha man that's what I was thinking but seriously, Im being dead ass serious when they evaluate plays etc... why would we never run that formation again are there any real answers Im just baffled by this??? Do I need to start a thread to really find out? I don't always understand Fox but this time I need more explanation when can we call in and ask Hurney questions again I need ANSWERS. (imagine that happening from the slickest talking coach in the league)

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that second play was supposed to be a pass. Wideouts were covered so AE ran. Those kinds of rushes and several called runs per game earned him 4,000 rushing yards at App. Yea the Southern Conference, and the rest of the league, isn't Div-1, but the kid has a better arm and can run rings around both Clausen and Moore.

I'm not looking for him to start by any means but I sure would like to see what he could do with a couple of series a game. For what it's worth I'm worried about his durability too.

I'm not sure it matters anyway. With the pass protection they are getting and the lack of mobility Clausen and Moore seem to be burdened with we'll be down to Pike and AE soon enough.

I'll give you that he can out run both of them, but he has a stronger arm? lolwut?

This is the same guy that they told he couldn't be a QB in the NFL, so he has to take his speed and become a Wide Receiver? And we're talking about Clausen who was supposed to be a Top 15 pick in the draft?

dude...

    • Same, bro.  Yeah, it just feels it has run its course and I don’t know that we’ll ever get more value.  Plus, with the new ownership, this draft has been super encouraging, so dare I believe maybe this FO can get something to really put us over the top in return for Melo.  I’ll still be a fan of his game and try to keep up with him if we move on, but yeah, I feel it’s time to turn the page. (and side note: I felt so happy after their rookie years because I told everybody I wanted Melo and didn’t trust Ant.  And Melo clearly looked like the better player early…  I thought Ant would bust because all that stuff he said about not loving the game and just his resume to that point…  but damn, if we could go back in time.🤣🤣🤣. I love Ant’s game and at times, when he gets in the zone, he is THE BEST player in the league in my opinion.)
    • Appreciate that, bro!  And I could definitely see that with Cam.  Even though he’s a little younger than me, he is also someone I admire and feel a kinship with for a lot of various reasons. Funny enough, a few years after that encounter with Steve, I went to Charlotte with one of my friends whose brothers owned a moving company at the time.  He dropped me off uptown and went to work the day with them where I would wait until he got done and then we were gonna go to the Bobcats game that night.  So I walk all through that area for hours.  After awhile, I walk back towards the arena and sit in a bench on the backside of the arena, where the practice court and player’s entrance was.  As I’m sitting there, I look up and almost think I’m seeing things - I squint and blink my eyes a couple times just to be sure, and yes…  it’s one of my childhood heroes, Muggsy Bogues walking across the crosswalk and into the arena.  I think he was coaching the Sting then, iirc.  Part of me wanted to just say, “Hey!  Muggsy!  Thank you for the inspiration and memories!  You were one of my favorite players as a kid!”  But, I just watched him walk by and into the arena and thought, “that was cool!”  I also so Miguel Cotto a couple years back while in Orlando and told my kids who it was but didn’t say anything to him.  I think somewhere in my subconscious, that encounter with Steve really made me feel like the gamble on finding out if they’re receptive to interaction just isn’t worth finding out.  At the end of the day, no matter if they’re receptive inspired us or were a hero, unless they initiate it, I likely never will…  because again, they’re humans just like us.  Not anymore unique or special, they just have a highly visible and very public job that we get to watch and in some ways participate.  So, I just appreciate it for what it is.
    • I'm pleasantly surprised they gave it to Bryce Young over Josh Allen. Finally we're getting some respect. Now I'm just hoping the team follows this up accordingly and doesn't lay another egg.
