What about Peppers to DC for Colt Brennan and a 1st (or more)?

What do you guys think about Colt Brennan? Would he and the Skins' first round pick be enough for Pep? I was just playing around with different scenarios. Someone had posted early on in the season that Pep might want to go to Washington.

I know that Brennan broke all kinds of records at Hawaii, but some questiones his effectiveness as an NFL QB. Here are some interesting links regarding Brennan and Pep to DC:

Pep probably won't end up in DC

While we're at it, let's sign Timmy Chang

Julius Peppers for Colt Brennan? Even with the first thrown in, that's one of the most one-sided trades in history, and we would be on the wrong end. That'd make it twice the Redskins screwed us in a franchise player trade.

(geez, and I thought the "Peppers for Anderson" threads were bad)

Hmm...another possibility. I don't hate the guy but you are reaching here. For Peppers, I think we need to get a player that is already quality.

Brennan would just be a little more sugar to sweeten the deal. According to the football pundits, we may find it difficult to get equal value for Pep.

Come on, Scottie. You're supposed to be the "voice of reason."

Sorry man, but that's an awful trade. You don't trade a franchise level player for a backup QB that "might" be a good pro.

If you want a player, it's got to be one that's at least close to equal value. Brennan is all potential at this point, and he played in a system that made Timmy Chang look like a world beater too.

I understand that people want something in trade, but that's not gonna do it.

See above. I said even with the pick thrown in there's no way I'd take that trade.

Personally, I think Brennan is a bust waiting to happen. Regardless of opinion though, trading a player like Peppers for a guy like Brennan (even with the 1st rounder) is an awful idea.

But Scottie, some say that we'd be lucky to get a first round pick at all, much less one with a player with some potential (however limited).

I don't agree with the notion that we can't get at least a 1st and 3rd for him.

There's just no way I could be convinced that swapping Peppers for a pick and a guy whose only claim to fame is as a "preseason star" and college record setter. You might as well trade for Tim Couch.

    • I think his football IQ is well below average. I do not think he can read defenses at all. He is not the long term answer. I'm getting worried about DC. I think he has problems seeing the big picture for each game. Some people can't accept it, but this game is greatly affected by momentum. It's hard to explain but you can just feel his decisions break it at least two or three times a game (I think he is pretty solid when it comes to 4th down decisions). My biggest concern is this. You have seen these coaches time and time again. For some reason you have these coaches that absolutely will not go with what is working. We need a name for these coaches, what is it? If something is working great, they just do not have the intelligence to comprehend that something working is actually good for their team. They cannot understand this. AND REPORTERS NEED TO CALL THIS OUT. Rushing was insane for the past two games...ok let's take half his carries away and have Bryce air it out (look at the attempts he had). The reporters need to freaking ask "((this)) was working, you didn't do ((this)), do you consider that bad coaching? If so, why? If not, why do you defend doing the opposite of what it best?" Anyone knows you keep doing something until they stop it. But you have these coaches that think the are going to pull a fast one on them and do the thing that is not working. Dave is starting to remind me of that guy in the movie Kung Pow. I think his name was Weeblow or something, he had those squeaky shoes when he ran around. The Kung Fu masters trained him wrong as a joke, so he did things to get the crap beat out of him instead of winning the fight. I am going to start calling Dave Canales WEEBLOW if he keeps doing the opposite of what would win. But seriously, if he is going to be that type of coach, I would honestly get rid of him after this season. You 100% do not want a coach with this flaw...they may have one good fluke season but it will be years of terrible teams.
    • I mean the Bronco's only won by 1, but no one there is complaining.
    • A QB who can't consistently throw the ball 20 yards downfield has no business being a starting QB in this league. That is a backup QB who you put in there to manage a game when your starter goes down.
