To me, if I never had sex with my wife, I'd always be wondering if she was getting it somewhere else. Also, I think the physical part of sex can always be handled in other ways...ie, alone, but the emotional part etc would be tough to replace, unless there were extenuating circumstances, like those you have listed. I hear what you are saying, it wouldn't affect the love I have for my wife, but I guess for us it's always been a big part of our relationship too, so eliminating it would have large repercussions.
