Still a fan but reality has set in

I never been so disgusted in a season like I have so far. When an owner is more concerned with an lockout and his money more than turning his team into a winning franchise, why should we care? I care and I am very appreciative for a team in charlotte but I just don't get it. I will still put on my jersey every sunday and hit the local bar for drinks but now I just expect us to lose. Let's face it, we may not win another game this year. I feel sorry for the players that are actually out there working hard but I just don't see this unit as a whole even caring at this point. I read Zod's comments about camp and should have just listened. We looked like crap in preseason, why was I expecting something different during the season? Now what if the lockout doesn't happen? We just threw away a year for a "just in case". The good thing is we will have a lot of money to spend if the front office is willing to pay for it. Well, lets hope we can pull some positives out this year because as of now, I don't see one.

Why does everybody keep pushing that JR is doing this over money?

He cares about the franchise, the league, and his employees. He's doing what he thinks is best because of the dark horizon he sees coming.

I'm tired of reading these ignorant comments about how he cares about "lining his pockets". If you don't recognize a business owner gearing up for a lockout then that's your problem.

He's not some greedy old bastard, but I guess since the team's losing somebody has to be the villain. It's not that hard to criticize intelligently.

So I guess the other 31 franchises that aren't doing any of this are just going to be screwed and the Panthers will emerge as the next dynasty following the lockout?

Jerry Richardson is the leader of the owners for this new CBA. He is the one setting the example. If all the owners are talking about not spending money this year because of a possible lockout, how can JR go out and spend, spend, spend. That would be a double standard. JR is doing what he has to do for his business, for his team, and most of all, for the future of the NFL. Shallow minds for some. Do some of us a favor and dig deeper.

I don't see where your going with that since I didn't mention anything of the sort. The point is Jerry is doing what he feels is best for the franchise if a lockout were to happen and beyond. He's not doing it out of greed. Anybody that tries to make that claim is just being childish.

Can we just agree to disagree without being insulting? The point is that football has a long offseason and we just wanted to see the team win. Yeah, there is a lot of finger pointing going on but as fans of the game, we support are team no matter what, well I do. I still will be at my local bar each sunday cheering for my team with a nice cold beer in hand. I am just a little disappointed with our team. We are probably going to finish dead last this season but will that change me as a fan no. I just want to see more effort from the team from the owner down to the sir purr (lol, ok I need some humor).

Well the good news to all this is, we will have a top 5 pick next year. Maybe even #1, but no 2nd rounder. Sure hope Armanti plays like a 2nd next year. I know it is way early, but that move is looking more and more bone headed. If Armanti cant even dress on this team, I dont see him being ready next year. Sure hope I am wrong. I bet we trade down to get a 2nd anyway.

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
