Herm on his way..??

I was not neccesarily referring to Herm. The Panthers need a change. My hopes are up that they bring in an aggresive style coordinator to take advantage of the players we have now. Bend don't break is a ridiculous mindset or philosophy to prepare an NFL defense. This isn't 2003 when we had a pretty dominant D line and they could rely on constant pressure from them. It's time for a change!

Anyone know what the story is on Ron Meeks? I understand he resigned as the Colts DC. Could the Panthers make a run at him IF (and we all surely hope) Trgovac doesn't return? Do you think the "snag" with Trgo's contract reported in the Herald could be due to Meeks' sudden availabiliity? Working in Dungy's defensive systems for so long, he could coach the "Tampa" Cover 2 D better than Trgo ever could. Just a thought.

Well if that's your research. You didn't even do yourself any justice.

I will say he is a well liked coach. But lets look at his success, or rather, his lack of success since being a secondary coach. He's been the HC of two teams...both which are sending him packing cause he was never successful with those teams. (successful, meaning winning seasons, and some playoff wins.)

But he's a well liked coach. I like the guy myself. Does that mean he's going to be a good DC?

Looks like you need to do some research into the differences in head coach and defensive coordinator. Get back to us when you understand a little.

Thanks!

Actually I don't think the Jets sent him packing.. I thought he was traded to Kansas City for a draft pick. He's not a bad coach.. just a bad Head Coach. He can form defenses but, like Fox, he tends to stick his nose in areas which are not his expertise and that causes problems. His KC defense was extremely young at skill positions and they came out and played hard the later part of the season. A lot of the times they didn't win because of their offense.

    • a 4th for him is well worth the risk.  It is also a low enough pick that it shouldn't really shake the locker room.  A 4th rounder that will sit this year and maybe take Pickett's spot next year or best case midseason where we can flip Kenny to a QB needy team midseason.  It's also a nice insurance policy for Young.  Especially with him sitting a year and learning the system.  Seems like a low risk move.  You can still draft one next year if needed and let them compete.
    • He was draft eligible last year and chose to go back to transfer and play another year of college ball despite it being a weak QB draft and next year's considered to likely he far better and now people think teams are going to part with a higher pick than he would've gotten drafted with in April after it's come out that he's basically a degenerate gambling addict? What am I missing here? I'll be surprised if any team offers up more than a 5th and it won't surprise me if no one even offers that.
    • If You’re a team with multiple 1st round picks it would be a decent setup for a gamble - if I understand the rules.  You are bidding 2027 currency and get to use the player in 2026.     You get the season to look at him and if you are unhappy then you still have another 1st round pick for after the season. Two in the case of the Jets.   So if you mess it up there is a fast way to recover from it.
