Godfrey moved to CB?

Could we move Godfrey to CB? I think he would at least be as good as Lucas. We could move him, cut Lucas, and sign a top FA saftey. It would be cheaper than a top FA CB. Do you guys think this is an option or not good?

Good safeties are not easy to come by. Godfrey just got done with his rookie season.

If they did that, then he'd almost be like a rookie all over again. He did a decent job as a rookie safety, so why not give him a chance to develop at that position?

Sign a top FA safety? Short term memory around here. Did you guys already forget how hard it was for us to find a safety before Harris and Godfrey came along? You make it seem as if we could just find a random player and have him be effective day one. If we move Godfrey, we're just going to have problems at another position. Forget it.

For the last couple years we've been clamoring for an answer at safety. While the jury is still out on if Godfrey is that answer, we have devoted a year to him learning the position. I think it would be a mistake to move him to cornerback, rather than building upon what we've started.

I don't think it would be right to alter Godfrey's growth at the safety position because of a need at another position. Not to mention I'd like to wait and see how all of our defensive players respond under a new staff and (hopefully) scheme.

I think Godfrey did pretty well considering there were doubts about him before the season.

Besides, if we lose Lucas, we have Marshall. He's good enough to fill the void, and I believe his best years are ahead of him.

But a big NO to moving Godfrey...we have been waiting for a good safety tandem for years. We will have one once Godfrey matures into his role.

This is the 10th time I've said this probably but we need to forget about it and ship Peppers ass to Oakland for Asomugha and hope that Al Davis bites...I would even give a draft pick AND Peppers to get that guy..

I'm going to wait for all of our backup corners to excel in starting roles before making any bold proclamations.

Marshall's agent said he would be the highest paid defensive back in the league when his contract is up, and he's yet to acquire the starting job. While I think he's got a lot of potential, he's still making rookie mistakes.

You better believe C.J. Wilson will, too.

We need to keep Godfrey where he is. The best thing to do is find a very speedy CB with sharp awareness.

Yeah I agree it is hard to find a saftey, but I was just looking at the potential FA S and CB. the S posistion has a lot more solid FA, but it is still to early to tell who will stay with their teams. I dont think Marshal is the answer. When he was on the field he got burned all the time. I was just putting it out there but it looks like everyone agrees it is a bad idea. I still think he would be a good corner, but it just depends on the new coaches I guess.
