Panthers will beat Bucs

Just because you think your team is going to lose doesn't mean you hate them. Let's just be realistic. Not dramatically optimistic or pessimistic, it's annoying either way. Let's use logic and stop being delusional. It will at least leave us with dignity and hope rather than disappointment. I'll still root for them regardless of whether I think they will win or not. It could happen, most likely it won't realistically and logcially.

I've gone from looking for wins to looking for some promise from the young guys as well as who is playing to stay next year.

While we won't know who is staying/going until the CBA is reached (JR has made it crystal clear that nothing is being done until then), I've got a good feeling that most deals will get done. The only one's I feel iffy on are Marshall, Williams, and Beason. We've already seen more out of Gettis and LaFell than we ever did from DJ.

For the full season setback we've essentially been suffering due to lame duck coaching staff (not a fault of the staff, though the actual coaching and play calling is entirely their fault), we're put in a pretty good situation to see who could have "it." Clausen is getting the keys to the car again, and while he flashed moments of potential in preseason, he hasn't followed through with anything. However, in my eyes at least, this is more of an issue with the play design by the coaching staff. They went into the season expecting Moore to run the team like Delhomme did. They didn't expect teams to be sending heat on every down, and as we've heard, training camp was lacksadaisacal at best.

There was a call to balance the offense, but the plays weren't designed to do so. My fingers are crossed that the playbook has been retooled to provide Clausen the same game plan that was given to both Matt Ryan and Sam Bradford: short, high percentage completions to build confidence and spread the defense. Use the TE more to open up the middle of the field. If they're going to send the house, have options to dump it off to. I thought this was what we should've been doing from the start when the oline went to shambles, but that's all opinion once again :)

Time is ticking now for Everette Brown to start contributing to the team, and not off of a fluke interception. I still think he'll have his coming of age season next year, but I would like to see that extra pick be made worth it. Better containment and more pressure. Get himself a reasonable 4 sacks over the rest of the season, and I'll be satisfied until next season.

DTs are on notice. Play for your job.

Over the course of the rest of the season, it'll be interesting to see if Clausen shows that he was indeed the steal he was originally thought to be. If he ends up looking like hot trash and starts snapping at other teammates and deflecting blame for losses to other factors, then we'll probably be taking a QB early on. If he does well, then we'll probably sign an old guy instead during the offseason.

Offseason = Panthers' postseason? :D

Call me crazy. Call me a pot stirrer. I don't care. Carolina wins this game. Never EVER underestimate a team that has been humiliated at home going on the road the following week. This is the type of matchup between a team that's not nearly as good as advertised versus a team that's not nearly as bad that gamblers love.

No we won't you daft bugger.

I would like the coaching staff to try and get Clausen to calm down in the pocket. He is confident in practice, but he is nervous on gameday. I believe that short/intermediate completions would be the best way to move the ball.

That plus I would like to see some WR screens to SS. Nothing flashy, just move the ball.

I do not believe in miracles, but if the Pathers beat the Bucs, it would be a miracle, IMO.

Couple of sessions with Tony Robbins for Clausen could help him calm his nerves.

Yoga also could also be a remedy.

You're right, with all the talent we've had on this team for the last 8 years we are just 4 and 4 against Tampa in Tampa..

09/14/03 at Tampa Bay W (OT) 12-9

12/26/04 at Tampa Bay W 37-20

11/06/05 at Tampa Bay W 34-14

09/24/06 at Tampa Bay W 26-24

12/30/07 at Tampa Bay W 31-23

10/12/08 at Tampa Bay L 3-27

10/18/09 at Tampa Bay W 28-21

The only loss came during the 12-4 season. Go figure.
