Clausen actually looked like a pro QB today

top dawg

This was the first game where it looked like they fully game planned to his strengths rather than just the typical deep drop vertical passing game and I thought he responded well. There's still things he needs to work on, namely that low sidearm throwing motion, but overall he looked like he had alot of potential and could be a good QB in the NFL. He's still not really ready but a year or so and he should be there.

Anyone that "assumed" Clausen was a bust based off his play earlier in the season is a fuging retard.

at what point do you think a player is going to be a bust? ive watched most panther games, and he's been awful. He could still be a decent qb, but you can already write off some of his higher projections.

he looked decent against the Saints, but this was far and away his best game. He looked terrible against the Bears. Bengals game was hard to judge him on because he had like 2 nice throws all game and the entire team looked beyond terrible.

It's funny. This game may be a W without the sieve-like D.

Considering that we would have won the game if Clausen could throw the ball better do not see where anyone would think he had a good game. Better than last Sunday, but that didn't take much considering how bad last Sunday was.

We started our offense three times in Tampa Bay side of the field, and the Bucs didn't look like a SB team.

It's pretty stupid to say that you can write off some of his higher expectations. He's a rookie that's surrounded by inexperienced receivers and a piss poor offensive line. Rookie QB's usually like to throw to a big pass catching TE which is something the panthers don't have.

go to cleveland their you'll see a rookie Qb look like a pro

Do you watch their games? McCoy has done a good job managing games but let's face it he has an over-performing OL and RB.

Translation: It's no coincidence that Clausen was able to look better with a 100 yard rusher today. It makes an unbelieveable difference taking pressure off a rookie.

there are legitimate issues with Clausen. Even today, many of his passes were low.

That being said, he looked much better. He seemed to read the field better, but he did lock onto receivers. He also is missing some chemistry with his players (aka, leading Rosario when Rosario sat on his route)...

Good to see Smitty getting up there and protecting his QB.

good-

Stands tough in the pocket, sees the field despite lack of height. Has good anticipation. Has decent escapability, and + velocity. Has the potential to be a decent wco qb if he can eliminate boneheaded plays and fumbles.

cons

He's short, he has small hands, he has a slow release, he has a low release point, he is slow reading the defense. He has trouble throwing the ball deep and over the middle. He locks on to his primary receivers and telegraphs his throws.

He can still be on ok qb, but some of his weaknesses are not going to turn around 180. Barring a dramatic turnaround he will be an average starter or decent #2 at best.
