Is there any presidence where a gm traded the first overall pick for the first overall pick in the next years draft?

There can't be a precedent for that, no one knows who will have the first overall the following year. San Diego has traded the top pick a couple times, The Jets did it in 97, don't remember who else has.

I haven't really weighed in yet. I'm still vacillating on whether to give my own honest thoughts, or dishonest ones instead.

We better draft Luck. He will make our team good. We are a few years away from being a great team. You take the franchise QB. I dont care who our current QB is. Luck is the second coming of Payton Manning. (I hope) We use FA to get a few starters and some backups. Get the QB in the draft. Trade one of our RBs for a 2nd or 3rd. (not Dwill). Get the DT next year in the draft. Trade Clausen or Luck, which ever one doesnt work out in a few years for whatever you can get. If both end up being good QBs you may get another 1st or 2nd round pick for them. By that time we should be ready to make a run.

Look for Carolina to swing multiple trades come draft day. Goodson or Deangelo will not be here next year. The next coach, cowher, is going to want to get his type of players quick. Carolina may continually trade down until the 3rd round and stock up. Since they will have the cap room to sign free agents, its not 100% necessary to use that 1st round pick.

Man this is actually a great idea seriously, not trading out of the first round but trading back twice lets say gaining a second round pick another 3rd (giving us 3) and a late first round would put us in great shape along with the free agent money we will have to spend. We can put alot of very good players on the field next season. Yes Fiz trading out of the first would be silly but back is a win win for us overall I would say.
