Fox to run the defense?

With so many of you saying everything is point to Fox (even though he didn't take over the defense). Why the hell not just them hire another coach to assist Fox on defense, and Fox actually run the defense himself?

That way yall could have something to base all this bullshit on.

While I wouldnt mind this option. I think it would be way too much work for Fox to do. I would rather get some young aggressive type coordinator.

fox has been getting more involved the previous years. not sure why. the possibility of fox running the whole thing and trgo being a puppet is not out of the realm of possibility.

we will know this next year one way or the other for sure.

We all have our different opinions as to who really did what on the coaching staff.

That being said, none of us really know who did what, nor can any of us say with conviction that it was Trgovac or Fox that resulted in our poor defensive play throughout the latter half of the season.

I acknowledge you might be right. No need to call other people's opinions "bullshit" or say we're talking out of our ass. If you get that worked up on a message board--where there's bound to be some difference of opinion--perhaps you need to take a break from the computer.

He hasn't taken over the defense.

The last two years he has taken over the defensive meetings half way through the season, but from my knowledge from what I have read, the gameplans are still cooked up in the same way and Trgo called the plays.

Big difference in my opinion. Whilst Fox may be dissatisfied with the D, if he were that bothered he would be the one calling the plays. He hasn't. Hard to be directly responsible for the performance if you are not calling the plays. He may have exerted his opinion on how the game should be played though via the gameplans...

I think this defense is run pretty similarly to how Bellicheat runs his defense in New England...the only difference being Bellicheats D is usually pretty effective and Fox's has not been.

There is more than enough evidence. Fox wasn't running the defense. He hasn't been calling the plays. If you can't see that for yourself, than maybe you should not comment on something you have been ignoring yourself.

People have the right to their opinions, but what has been going on here is people have been grasping at straws. You can say it's just opinions, but the evidence that he hasn't been running the defense is all over the place. Big difference between involvement, and running the defense. If he had been running the defense, the entire NFL would know, and there would be no speculation, period.

I've admitted my ignorance as to who is calling the shots.

You say there is plenty of evidence Fox is not running the defense. Let's hear it.

I mean that sincerely. If you want to silence the critics and doubters, such as myself, than let's hear the specific evidence that points to Fox's involvement or lack thereof on the defensive side.

Gantt reports he took the D over the past two seasons. I don't take his reports as bs. Fox's answers to direct questions are bs.

    • Even if you concede that Bryce gets better as the season goes on you cant have a QB that just surrenders the first 2 games and the next 4 or 5 are iffy
    • I understand very clearly that Wilks’ approach in ‘22 wasn’t going to make us able to beat the better teams, but he got us competing and succeeding against the teams we should beat, similar teams to us. And it felt the best any stretch has felt, under Tepper.  But Tepper and the mob here had to have themselves the Offensive Minded HC, play caller guru. How’s that working out?    I know this: guys in the locker room were all about Wilks. He equaled or bested the win total of every other coach under Tepper before or since. It is a fact, and not for nothin.    FWIW I didn’t think he was gifted as a DC, when he was here as the DC. But he was excellent coaching DBs. All those jobs are different I guess, take different skill sets. I think his strength as a HC was getting people to follow him. That goes a long way.  After what has befallen this team since rejecting him, I don’t feel like a lesser fan for supporting him, I promise you that.
    • Since you also posted the Denver game, worth pointing out thumbing do anything for three quarters after the first drive until Denver went into garbage (Bryce) time.  They got a meaningless late touchdown to make it a 14 point and give Bryce some yards.  Since we’re moving into superlatives, they weren’t competitive at all in that game.  and Bryce also got complete outshone by Bo Nix and anyone with pride would retire after that.
