How many times does Godfrey have to get beat

In your opinion there was a better option than Godfrey last season. Maybe it's your opinion that there is a better option than Godfrey this season. In my position, as a fan, I respect the opinion of other fans, but ultimately it's nearly impossible for a fan's opinion to be equal or superior to an NFL caoching staff. It would be luck, or a very rare event for you to be correct imo. If I were a betting man, I would put my money on the NFL coaches every time.

No, anyone who has every played or watched football could clearly see Martin was a better S than Godfrey last year. Godfrey remained the starter for the same reason Jake did.....Fox wanted them to be the best option.

like I said, there are fry cooks, lawyers, and YES...NFL coaches who are flawed and make simple and obvious mistakes. NFL coaches aren't excluded from doing obviously dumb things.....no profession is excluded from people that are "stuck on stupid".

I think you're going too far here. All the Panther coaching staff has either played or watched football. Our defense was ranked 8th last season, and Fox is considered by some in the NFL to be a defensive guru. In addition, Fox was a secondary coach. I don't think Fox wants things without good reason. As for Jake, I remember hearing reports they Jake was clearly out playing Moore during practice. After seeing Moore this season, those reports are easy to believe.

I don't think any fan has the nessecary information to make a decision that our coaching staff made a mistake in starting Godfey last season. On the surface, as a fan, their decision looked good to me. Godfrey made a lot of big hits, and our defense finished the season ranked 8th, in large part due to strong play from the secondary. But again, I couldn't say who should have started.

You may be right, and the coaches may be wrong, but that wouldn't be something I would bet on.

yeah, they watched Jake and thought he gave us the best chance. They would have started him all 16 games if healthy. Moore wasn't getting reps with the first team...of course Jake looked the best in practice.

Godfrey stinks. That is a safe bet. Godfrey being able to come up make hits doesn't mean anything. He is a good athlete.....he is a bad S. Always has been.

again, Godfrey has been garbage from his rookie years until now. Last season, after consistant horrific play Martin stepped in and looked like a Pro Bowler......and then Fox went back to Godfrey. Why? B/c he is committed to Godfrey....he wants Godfrey to be the best option so he gives him the job.

wanting someone to be and them actually being the best option are two different things. Fox has struggled w/ that from 2007 - to present day.

Martin would still be on the bench likely if Fox had his way b/c Harris would still be here. He is better than both.

Him continuing to start the firsttwo years could easily be viewed as Fox letting a guy who swtiched two different postions have time.

Why is it so hard to think Fox simply wanted a young vet over a rookie starting his first year? After Godfrey replaced Martin he got noticbely better the last few games, an observation made by numerous people here, stats sites and an local media.

If he really didnt like martin whynot have him sitting behind Martin's backup?

Because we all know that your and their limited exposure during a few game snaps makes you far more qualified to make an assessment as to talent than a coach exposed to the player daily during the season and much of the off season. Troll elsewhere.

I would argue that it's the conclusion of the operators of that site who seem to have put a lot more into the analysis than you.

Not my question. I asked would YOU argue that Godfrey is better than Martin.

I just use the old fashioned eye ball test. That imo tells you more than going back to consult stat sheets for games you don't watch.

I guess those that ask such a dumb question of what has Pugh shown would've started Delhomme all 16 games last year. You don't award failing players by starting them. Godfrey has been terrible ever since his rookie year. It's completely moronic to try to defend him. It's time to see what Pugh has. Otherwise Pugh is just being wasted on the bench whlie Godfrey continues getting beat.
