If you didn't realize today that our biggest need is for a stud DT...

ozzie> marty.dt is a huge need but the fa dt's are not that bad looking.we must draft luck.....

Who are the DTs who will be free agents? Did anyone ever make a list of who why might want to target? I'm hoping Luck will come out, but from the interviews I've seen I think he's planning to graduate.

Don't get your hopes up, 31 other teams in the league are going to want Ngata.

True, but 31 other teams haven't been stockpiling money for a year.

Not saying the Ravens will let him walk, because they won't, but if he did somehow make it to FA, then I'd throw the house at him if I were Hurney. That guy could automatically improve the whole team by a few notches.

spears, ngata, jenkins, bowen, cesire, jolly, mebane, cofield just to name a few. those 3-4 de could be dt's that collapse the pocket in a 4-3. i like bowen and wonders what he could do in 4-3.

If Luck doesn't enter the draft, the we could draft DT Nick Fairley, then pick up FA DT Haloti Gnata. I would probably have a heart attack.

...then you are a casual fan...

This is followed very closely by OL that can block and not get beat every single snap, and then a solid #2 WR that can get open and catch passes that hit him in the hands and face while in the endzone...

Seattle beat the hell out of us, right up the gut, in the second half... Almost every single time they took it up the gut, between the tackles, they ripped off at least 5 or 6 yards... You can thank perennial Pro Bowl selections Nick Hayden and Derek Landri for that... I don't fault Hardy as much on the end because he is a rookie playing beside high schoolers... Charles Johnson can't do it by himself...

All this talk about Luck is dumb when we have way bigger issues... I'd like to see any rookie, or seasoned vet for that matter, come in and complete passes when he has approximately 3 seconds to make a read before someone has penetrated the backfield... Until we fix OL and DT, our QB and defense in general will continue to be worn down/beat up, game after game...

You're right. We need a DT who can collapse the pocket consistently.

    • CJ Stroud going to flame out if he doesn't watch out..
    • This play was never designed to go to either DJ or Odunze. The primary read is Burden who is stymied early, with the outlet being Kmet if Caleb doesn't like the option for Burden. Given the situation it's pretty obvious the simple play is to take the free yards with Kmet, or if you want to be aggressive just wait a beat longer for Burden to uncover on his double move. If Moore was ever going to be a viable target in this play then Caleb should have started out reading Odunze to hold the safety in the middle and then coming to Moore, but because he started the snap staring down the right and then came back to the middle late it made it where the safety's leverage remained to the outside of Moore, so he would never have imagined that pass actually being thrown to him in that situation. Realistically DJ's best option in that context is to just occupy the safety to leave a hole open for Caleb to get it to Burden, which is probably why he throttles down vs carrying the safety across.
    • Even with Sonny Styles still on the board I thought it's a no brainer to address the Oline after Icky's injury.  And how can you pass up Fano at 19 given our situation. Then the rest of the draft just kind of made sense with maybe the exception of Klubnik.  But if Canales can fix him and Young goes down. . .I think it's a solid pick. What do you think of this draft?
