I think Richardson better shore stuff up soon or we are going to be looking at say a Chan Gailey type hire for HC

There is no way that the Richardsons settle for someone like Gailey. The reason that the Bills couldn't get anyone better is because nobody wants to live in Buffalo and there are rumors that they could be the franchise that is shipped north to expand the NFL to Canada.

JR is one of the most respected (if not THE MOST respected) NFL owners. There are going to be coaches lining up to coach for him. If for no other reason than for job security. The guy gave John Fox 9 seasons and only 4 or 5 of those were "good" seasons. Coaching staffs know that if they come here they will have time to build. Not to mention you have the #1 pick and a chance to take a QB that could set the stage for an elite team for years to come.

Phantom story/link or not this is a real issue if not addressed. Perception turns into reality. With alot of choices year in and year out for NFL coaches looking for work with proven resumes they can pick and choose where they want to go. Same can be said for Players - both FA's especially but also high / first round draft picks.

I think the Panthers will be willing to give him the control he wants. I also think the Panthers offer a family atmosphere, the greatest opportunity to turn things around, and is located in his backyard. I don't see how SF or any other team could lure him away if JR decides that Cowher is the man.

His timing is everything. The only 2 jobs people KNOW will be open are in Carolina and Denver, and possibly SF is a given.

I can def see Cowher taking the Denver job. I would love to see Singletary as our HC though.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
