Debating if you think Meeks has done well is really pointless. New coach next year = new staff

Yeah, he'll probably keep some people, but I think he's gonna put some time into finding a DC & OC suiting his system. Its very unlikely Meeks returns.

Anyone think that the reason why our special teams has been decent this year is the simple reason that this off season we actually attempted to improve the team and fix the problem with special teams. We made promoted Jeff Rodgers and then we signed some key special teams players like Marcus Hudson and Wallace Wright who has yet to play for the panthers due to injury. I really hope Wright's injury isn't serious because I believe he could help our special teams because he has a pretty good history with the Jets special teams. In fact most of the very few players we did sign in free agency were players known to be good special team players. I think special teams is very important but the players don't really get as much attention as the offense and defense players but I love watching special teams and think it plays a very important role to winning.

I read Jeff Rodgers biography on panthers.com and it seems that he is a very good special teams coach. I don't think he will be kept next year due to us getting a new staff but I wouldn't mind keeping him. Heres the bio I read

I wouldn't place any bets on Rodgers being kept, honestly. But I'd be okay with it if they did.

On defense, already mentioned Baker and Smith. Would love to see Sam Mills III stay around too (admittedly for sentimental reasons).

Offense? Fair or not, as bad as it's been I'd say anybody not named Geep Chryst has a pretty good shot of being elsewhere next season, and Chryst's chances are tied to Jim Harbaugh being the head coach.

    • The aversion to tying up too much money in the ground game around when it’s what’s winning us games is crazy to me. I get letting Rico walk if you think he’s easily replaceable but I don’t see many people arguing that, just applying an arbitrary salary cap based on what we think RBs are currently worth. I’d rather be stuck with Hubbard as an overpaid backup (not the worst one to have, mind you) than lose out on the most productive player on the offense personally.
    • Why do people keep saying things like “it’s not Young’s fault we spent so much to draft him”? Who cares if it’s his fault?  Nobody is saying send him to jail or anything.  People aren’t talking about blame for the decision to draft him, they’re talking about how bad he is as a QB and how we’d be much better with even an average QB.  Pointing out that we sunk a lot of resources into drafting him isn’t invalidated because he didn’t make that decision himself. Doesn’t matter whose fault that was, he’s still not playing like a QB who was drafted at all, much less one that cost two firsts, two seconds and a #1 WR.
