For those who are worried about Luck not declaring....

Exactly. He can do like Steve Young did and finish his degree AFTER he is in the NFL. Anyone can finish a degree at anytime, there are 60 year olds going back to law and medical school. This is the last chance to get the rookie money he would get.

If they have a new CBA agreement this year there will be no big rookie money. The last chance for that was last year.

because maybe, just maybe, he loves the college life and really loves whatever hes majoring in more than football? luck is smart and down to earth enough to know that money cant buy happiness

Actually, if he is smart he will declare before he gets injured or somehow else ruins his value in the NFL.

Are you guys really defending:

Playing in the NFL making millions of dollars

vs.

Staying in college and playing college football

Don't forget the BUST factor. Coming out early increases it. However, the bottom line is Harbaugh. He leaves, and Luck leaves. Luck is probably including Harbaugh when he says, "Family."

Meh - we're going to lose sleep over whether anyone we pick at one overall will be a bust. Seems like a smaller chance with Luck regardless.

I am inclined to agree that he won't stay if Harbaugh leaves...but I thought we all basically took that as a given.

If Luck stays in college, it'll be for Harbaugh and for academics and for college life more than it'll be for loyalty to his team mates, I think.

We'll know very soon what's up. I would not be surprised if Harbaugh was out of Stanford before Luck's decision was made...

and if Luck does announce his decision before Harbaugh, you can virtually guarantee Harbaugh is gone too.

Can you call a player a bust if he joins a bad team and doesn't light it up immediately? Not a Clausen defense because I don't have faith in him. But there will certainly need to be a veteran QB on this team to help Luck along the way should we pick him. If you draft a player of his caliber, then you make additional investments to make sure not to fug it up.

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
