I dont get why Fox is 'high on everyones coaching list'

not really, as soon as elway left the broncos sucked. they went to the playoffs 4 times from 99-08.

those are john fox kinda numbers right there. he did however make the playoffs three years in a row from 03-05, something foxy never did. so i would say that his time post elway was slightly better than fox's tenure at carolina due to the back to back to back playoff seasons.

Shanny had 5 consecutive winning seasons and only had 1 losing season in his last 9 years. That is pretty consistant for not having a great QB.

those are in no way John Fox numbers. John never once won back to back seasons. Shanny put 5 winning seasons in a row together. That isn't slightly better than Fox. I will take someone who wins consistantly over someone who rarely on occasion has 1 postseason where the team got a little farther.

Over the years we have had some of the best talent in the NFL. Much of it at the same time. But we had FOX and Henning. I blame DAn Henning for much of the offensive woes because given everything he had he still couldn't put together a play book that was thicker than a dime store comic; and even a worse read. Fox kept him. What ground my gears most about Fox was walking off the field at the half with 30+ seconds left on the clock with time outs and downs. Like we didn't need 3 points. This year was just sabotaged. Well at least we got a first round pick. Everyone says a QB pick. Fine. But if they don't put an O-Line in front of him and the backs they better get two of everything.

Fox is a great head coach his players love to play for him he has never had the talent he needed and injuries have been a huge issue also so that sucks he loses his job here we all know who really need to lose his job(Hurney) with the whole J-Pep thing and extending Jake so get off Fox and plus Fox cant get out there and play

Jeff Fisher sucks, stop trying to blame his QB who aint played in weeks. Vince Young will be back in Tenn next season, Fisher wont. Andrew Luck is a "Todd Marinovich" type QB.

Funny how KT has to bring up Luck even when no one has mentioned him in this thread.

Obsess much? Dance that jig KT.

Kinda like you bringing up Cam Newton outta nowhere in the Panthers-Falcons game day thread. That burden and guilt you carry must be enormous. :yesnod:

Mine was a joke, you were serious.

Keep dancing. We know how obsessed you are about Luck being drafted instead of your boy.

Fox is a very good HC. His teams were always competivie and he has made it to the SB and two NFC Title games. Coupled with the right FO he will be successful. It isn't just the media that fills this way.

I agree. Fox isn't the greatest coach there is, but he isn't the worst. He will clearly be a new coach with a different team asap. Look at Eric Mangini. He was terrible with the Jets & he was fired, but yet Browns hired him after he was available. Fox is better than him & he will get a head coach job right away. It could be either with Chargers (Norv Turner isn't all that great) or Giants if they fired Coughlin after this season.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
