So who here thinks Matt Moore will get re-signed for next year?

i'd kind of like to just clean house in the QB department. get rid of all vesitges of a failed QBprogram here and start all over.

release pike, just let moore walk, and trade clausen for whatever we can get. package him up with a late round pick and hope to get a 2nd or early 3rd rounder.

draft luck (or newton) and bring in old vet QB with a lot of playing experience to hold a clipboard and then pick up some other option out of FA as a 3rd QB. don't need to draft one. just pick up a serviceable backup.

one thing that is going to frustrate things from time to time is that edwards can still be considered a QB by officials from game to game and that may limit what options are available for a backup. more than likely, if edwards is going to be on the active roster officials will want him to be considered the backup and the vet will have to be the emergency backup.

Keep Moore if it's feasible. He's a stand up guy and I think he can still be a starter somewhere, he just had a bat situation this year. He's a honest guy, who handled his benching and whatnot with class. I think he'd be a fine backup, as long as he isn't too expensive.

How expensive is too expensive?

Whitehurst got $5mil a year and never played a down.

Well that's just the thing. With his unfortunate situation this year, and him going through surgery I don't think him or his agent have an opportunity to be playing hard ball, especially if we draft Luck.

I think he will take what he can cause not too many teams are going to be interested in a rehabilitating QB. At least the Panthers are keeping an eye on his progress while any other team would have no idea what they are really getting. If he's not happy with a full 4 year contract, I can simply see another 1 year extension and both sides playing it by ear. For bang for your buck, I can't see another back-up QB that would be a better choice.

I think we can get a lot for little with Matt, and both sides would probably be happy about it.
