Matt Ryan and his sophmore season?

What is everyone's opinion on the new golden boy of the NFL.

I have heard reference to Manning 1, and all kinds of other craziness. What do you guys think?

Trying to figure out what we are up against, with some, how do you say non espn eyes.

1. He had a great season...but it is only one season

2. have no idea whether he is a one shot wonder (like Derek Anderson) or the real deal.

I am just curious why everyone thinks that he had a "great" season.

He had a good season for a 1st time starting QB, but nowhere near "great". 16 td's 11ints, is not what I want from a "great" QB.

Quite honestly we throw the great season around much too often.

I don't think they will match the success they had last season. The Falcons benefited from a weak schedule and '09 puts the NFC South up against the NFC and AFC East. Schedule is BRUTAL for the NFC South this year. I think '09 the Saints take the NFC South. I had a feeling last night while I was watching the Superbowl that we'll be watching the Saints play the Patriots next year.

Well judging by his December numbers, it could be defenses have started to figure him out. Let's hope he regresses seeing how he's in the NFC south.

His slump near the end of the season has to be somewhat disconcerting to Falcons fans.

They have a tougher schedule next season than they did this season. He'll still do well, but not as well, and I don't see them making the Playoffs. I think only one team comes out of the South with a spot, due to our tough schedules (NFC East, AFC East).

Toughness of the schedule can't be determined immediately.. Everyone though the chargers were going to own people this past year but they struggled.. WITHIN their weak division. This year, we had a strong division and a fairly difficult schedule and we came out fine. "Weak" or not, we won't find out until the season starts. Matt Ryan may fall into that slump but as a follower of the ACC, he was pretty consistent in college. May not have the same numbers, but he'll have the same impact.
