Rob Chudzinski is the Panthers lead target for OC

San Diego tight ends/assistant head coach Rob Chudzinski is the leading candidate to become the Carolina Panthers next offensive coordinator, according to a source close to the situation.

If they hire Chudzinski you can bet the Panthers will be looking to upgrade at tight end with an Antonio Gates-type of player. His background is working with great tight ends like Gates at San Diego and Jeremy Shockey and Bubba Franks at the University of Miami.

Chudzinski’s contract with the Chargers is up after the completion of the NFL season.

Indianapolis Colts wide receivers coach Ron Turner could be a fallback option for the Panthers, but Chudzinski clearly is the leading candidate at this point.

One thing I LOVED about Rivera's press conference, and noone has said anything about it yet, but was how Rivera addressed the TE situation.

The one thing I got from the press conference.. in the limited portion that I did get to see..(been at work all night) Is that TE will be an important position going forward.. And what we have on the roster now ain't gonna cut it. Rivera basically said the TE by committee ain't gonna fly.
