Are we really that bad off at TE?

Or was it Fox's system 2 only use them as a 6th linemen? I heard Moose on the radio early this week and he felt like Dante and Gary are really talented just very under used.

He said in a different system they can really shine.

So do we really need another TE or can we just give the ones we have a chance too perform in a new system. Where the OC hands aren't handcuffed by the HC.

Up until this year I thought we had great TE's. We had King who could block like a lineman and Rasario who could make spectacular catches. I was under the impression that Gary could handle both responsibilities but didnt have the experiance yet.

After this year, after watching dropped pass and dropped pass and missed block after missed block. I have to agree that the position needs an upgrade

Rivera has the right idea. One TE that can do it all is a much better model.

I like all our TE's and I agree that Rosario and Barnidge could thrive in a system that emphasizes the TE, but if there's a stud TE available in the draft and King is on his way out then I'd take him.

Barnidge has all the attributes.. We've seen glimpses from Rosario..

Yes. Our TEs are pretty much 1 dimensional. A blocker who is an offensive threat saves a roster spot. many teams carry 2 active TEs. Having said that, I think Fiametta might be the odd man out--and King. Rosario might be converted to an Hback and block out of the backfield some. Barnidge is an offensive threat (WR/TE hybrid) and I think RR will bring in a TE that is well rounded.

In other words

Fiametta, King, Rosario, Barnidge becomes Rosario, Barnidge and a TE stud.

He was happy with Kris Mangum for most of his time here. Mangum was a contributor, but not a threat.

These days the league is peppered with guys like Jason Witten, Dallas Clark and Antonio Gates, guys that can both catch and block. And it opens up the offense a lot.

Barnidge fouled it up this season more than once. Rosario is the real deal. King is nothing special.

I always thought our guys were under utilized....never occurred to me that we were under-staffed...with the issues at other positions, why worry about TE unless it's worse than we thought?

I don't understand why Rasario isn't a better blocker, he shared time at TE and FB in college at Oregon, the guy should be better according to his resume

Lot's of people here are jumping on the Marcedes Lewis and Zach Miller bandwagon, but I doubt the two come available.. Kevin Boss is an option.
