Those Who Like Palmer, He's Demanding Trade

Seems to me Palmer is like Delhomme. Good until he got injured and the game has taken a toll on his body. I don't see him being a viable option at this point as a starter. If he were released it might be a different matter. As for restructuring, didn't the old CBA said a player couldn't restructure a contract for less money or did I make that up??

Don't know what he would do as a mentor or to help with the rookies.

He's nothing like Delhomme. He is so much more physically gifted that it's not even close. He also got stuck playing with one of the worst organizations in football and always had two batsh*t crazy receivers breathing down his neck.

He's not going to be a mentor. Who the hell would want to get traded from being a starter just to become a mentor when they've openly stated they'd just rather retire? Think a little.

If he goes anywhere it's not here. We are not winners in the eyes of players across the country and we are not viewed as being on the upswing either.

I see you are just as good evaluated quarterbacks as breaking down film, LOL.

So to answer your questions. Right now Palmer is only in Cincy because he will be too much to dump and his worth is suspect. Secondly he had decent talent in Cinco and Owens and couldn't get them the ball. He hasn't been starter material in years and isn't getting better. The fact that he said if traded he would rework his salary concedes that no one thinks he is worth what he is getting paid.

Cincy likely hopes he retires so they can dump all that salary at this point. He is likely going to be a backup to a decent team and would only get to start on a team like ours with poor quarterback talent. He was physically talented but no longer. All that physical pounding has taken his toll.

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
