When I was a young lad, we used to hang out under an old train bridge smoking da ganga. There was a small platform directly under the tracks and when you sat on it, your head was about 18" under the ties.

The big rush came when a train went over and the whole thing started shaking and rocking. The suction from the train would pull up on your clothes.

Fun times.

When i lived in Pineville(mid 80s) we use to jump on the slow moving trains and ride them for a couple of miles. One time we rode one all the way to fort mill. Had to call my buddy's sister to come pick us up.

Nah, we were sitting down, stned as hell. The first time it happened, we couldn't get out (limited access) and we didn't want to jump down to the water (about 25 feet) so we hunkered down. It was pretty scary, lol.

After a few times, we kinda got immune to the fear and enjoyed the rush.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More, specifically "The Swan".

My parents didn't know he wrote stories and books not for kids, to my great pleasure.
