Gabbert On The Radar?

Quarterbacks have been the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft eight of the past 10 years and there is speculation that the Carolina Panthers are seriously considering Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert in the 2011 draft. Buffalo fans should be rooting for Gabbert to wow the Panthers in the next few months. If he goes to Carolina, the Bills would have a shot at Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley or Clemson pass-rushing defensive end Da’Quan Bowers.

Just speculation. It looks like the Bills area wants defense 1st rd.

Jimmy is far uglier. Gabbert is at least passable. He would bring up the ugly ratio to semi respectable.

This should be a part of all QB's evaluations.

weren't you the guy who was saying that moore should be the starter because he looks so good and kind of got hung up on his looks?

not that there's anything wrong with that.

No, I said he needs to be brought back if we drafted Luck because the stable of Luck, Clausen, and Pike was far too ugly to be the depth chart of an NFL team. Moore did win Charlotte's sexiest man award so it would bump up the ugly meter to decent.

He doesn't have to start, just be here. I also suggested Kyle Boller as well as some others. Boller just married former Mrs. California.

Now that Luck is out of the picture it's not as pressing of a need. Also, I'm sure Pike will be gone so the only ugly left now is Clausen. We can overcome that.

In the other thread I did preface it all with no homo though so it's fair game.

    • Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.
    • Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.
    • With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
