ANOTHER idea about a possible draft day trade

With Dallas needing a CB so desperately, and Peterson being one of the 2 best players in this draft, what about the possibility of trading down to #9 with Dallas? We know Jerry Jones isn't afraid to make a big splash. He could be afraid Amukamara doesn't last til 9 and figures if he's gonna trade up might as well go balls out and get a guy of Peterson's potential.

With that said, I think there's a better chance he only trades up to 5 or 6 to grab Amukamara (or Peterson if he's somehow still there), but I don't think you can rule Dallas out as one of the top trade contenders for us.

What would it take? Dropping all the way to #9, and considering JJ's constant overly high expectations of his team, I don't think it'd be ridiculous to think we could probably get #9, next year's first and this year's second in the trade. Maybe wishful thinking, might just get this year's 1,2,3 from them. Either way, I think it'd be a pretty decent trade...and probably one of the two most likely trade partners for us (the other being Arizona in my opinion).

I agree, I think there's a bigger chance (if he indeed wants to trade up) that he'll trade with someone between us and them. But he could get afraid Denver will take Peterson. That's looking less likely now that Bailey resigned, but still...their other CB might be in legal trouble and Bailey is still due to start showing his age at SOME point. Jerry Jones might wanna leapfrog Denver to ensure getting Peterson.

If we can trade down into anywhere in the top 5 I'd be ecstatic. In the top 5 we're guaranteed a player I wouldn't be upset about us drafting: Green, Peterson, Dareus, Newton, Bowers. Down at #9 like my hypothetical scenario we're reaching territory where we won't necessarily get a #1 choice at a position but there might be some decent options available: Amukamara, Dareus/Fairley maybe, Quinn, Cam Jordan, Julio Jones. Plus that possible extra first round pick next year to package and move up for Luck.

Picking up an extra first next year is pretty essential in any trade we make (if we make one) especially if next years draft is really strong. Obviously all hypothetical but would be nice to have loads of picks next year to give us the ability to move up if we fell in love with a player.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
