I like waking up to positive info. Thanks for the post, now if we could get the CBA going I could really get excited about next season.

Easier said than done and why do it with no idea what the CBA or next cap will look like?

While that's true, other teams are giving their players lucrative extensions/contracts.

As for the cap, I've seen numbers mentioned that the next salary cap will be around $140 million, and the Panthers currently only have $71 million towards the cap next year(if you count Kalil's tag, it's around $81 million). The money is there, and it won't hurt us cap wise to get Johnson signed.

All of this is a non-issue if we are able to get him signed, but if we let him go to free agency and he gets away, it'd be one of the dumbest moves this franchise has ever made.

Oh, and just in case anyone didn't know.. Charles Johnson is from Georgia, and played at Georgia. It just so happens that the Falcons biggest need is a pass rusher, and recent history(Dunta Robinson) shows they will spend a lot of money. We'll be competing against practically every team in the NFL when it comes to signing this guy if there isn't a grace period to sign UFA's after a CBA is reached.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
