I liked Cota. I think it was his contract offer from NO that I first heard of the poison pill.

Yeah, I think it has to be either Cota or Grant. They are the only ones I can think of that had some success that may have been from the later rounds.

The best NFL draft pick ever at every slot from No. 1 to 262 - ESPN

ESPN just put out a list.  4 Panthers made the list.   3 are DBs.   1 is OL.  Unlimited pie for the first to guess 3 out of the 4 WITHOUT cheating!  I will know if you cheated because you will have gotten it right.

No cheat, didn't even scroll past your post.

I got two clear ones- Captain Munnerlyn and Josh Norman

the next two are my best guesses

MIke Minter to round out the DBs

Ryan Kalil as the OLman

Upon rereading @CRA post. I'd like to change my OLman pick to will montgomery.

I thought either Ryan, will, or hangman.

Rethinking and still no cheating- Will Montgomery had a looong career for a 7th and started plenty for washington.

I got to stick with the others.

Checked the Panthers all-time list- Robert McClain has to be the answer. Dang I missed that one.

He had a long career for 7th and that's the key to the whole game.

I think up unto last year both Will Montgomery and Robert McClain were still playing. Robert even had had a try out like 10 years later for the Panthers. I finally remeber his name and seeing he played for like 6 teams, but the fact he was still playing.

Almost had the 4 for 4!!!

Have not opened this or read any other posts.

OL:  Ryan Kalil (59)

DB:  Josh Norman  (143)

DB: Captain Munnerlyn (216)

DB: Mike Minter (56)

It was hard finding the DBs....

Moton would have been a good pick and so would Travelle Wharton--it all depends on who else was selected that pick.  Hangartner was a good one that I never considered.  Montgomery is a great pick

And a third DB was taken with a pick we traded.... #14 Revis

Would have guessed Steve Smith in the 3rd but no WR.

Can't fathom Taylor Moton in the 2nd as an OL but I don't have anyone else who could make that kind of list.

DB I got Josh Norman and no idea beyond that.  All the other DBs who were good were early rounders (Gamble, Minter, Horn, even Godfrey as a 3rd rounder)

Smith ran into a Will Shields problem. Lol

Haven’t looked at anything including comments. OL I’m assuming Ryan Kalil since I don’t know who else it would be. 3 DBs is interesting since we don’t have a great history of DBs. I’m guessing one is Josh Norman since he was drafted pretty late. I don’t remember when Gamble was drafted but I could see it being him if he was drafted 3rd round or later. And maybe Minter?

Pretty sure Gamble was early. Maybe even a late 1st rounder, but not into the later rounds.

Captain

Norman

Cota as the 3rd DB

No clue on the OL though.

    • I watch a ton of NFL because the product on the field is still the best on the planet. But, that will only get you so far. US sports fans are an aging crowd so there will be a dramatic drop when the Boomers die off and the GenXers do, as well.  The Millennials will probably be the last major generation that watches sports in high numbers.
    • The Bryce stanning is relentless.    Cam’s team won two games the previous season and legit was picking 1st. Bryce’s team won 7 games the previous season and was actually in playoff contention. And legit earned the 9th overall pick.  If anything made that team worse in 2023 than in 2022 it was Bryce. Come on. And missing DJ, I’ll concede that.
    • I see the logic in what you're saying, but I'd also say there were games with a bit more talent on the roster that some of the L's are actually W's.  AZ - We don't get off to a crappy start and if this game is later in the season when Bryce is a bit more comfortable, I think we beat the Cards NO - At least one of, if not both of these games would've gone our way SF - Perfect opportunity to snag a win on the road that Purdy handed to us, but we couldn't do anything offensively TB - Final game was winnable in Tampa  All this to say, I think 8 wins is about where we were at in 2025 if you take the games we barely won and combined them against the games that we barely lost.  Add 5-6 new pieces in FA and the draft. We went head to head and almost beat the Rams in a meaningful playoff game that gave a lot of the youth that experience to take into 2026 and beyond, and I do think 10-11 wins is achievable next year.  Not guaranteed, but much the way folks thought we could get to 8 or 9 wins this year as the ceiling, I think 10-11 is the new ceiling for next year.
