Trgo admits he wasn't comfy in Carolina

Exactly. Ugh, I'm mixed on Yasinskas. The guy has some idiot comments. Further down in the NFC South blog, he makes this mention:

"Don't get too excited about Moore. There's a reason why the Panthers went out and traded for McCown last year and dropped Moore to No. 3 on the depth chart."

I was almost certain Moore being dropped to #3 was purely because of his injury? There is no way that he was dropped to #3 simply because of poor competition between him and McCown. On that note, McCown does not deserve to be the #2. The guy couldn't do CRAP when he had Fitzgerald and Boldin, so I don't see why he'd do any better with what the Panthers have.

you cant guage what mcCown did in Arizona like you did. He only started 16 games in 3 years. In his last year, he wasn't that bad according to his stats. I mean they sucked donkey balls as a team. Josh will push delhomme this year in camp. He does deserve to be #2. He has more experience. He was to be the starter in Miami before the whole Favre to the jets, pennington to miami deal

Plus you say Moore wasn't replaced on poor competition. McCown wasn't signed until 8/30/2008. He wasn't even in TC. So that shows you right there the coaches at this point do not trust this team with Matt Moore. Josh McCown will surprise many people this year in TC. He is big and mobile and has a cannon for an arm. Now that we finally got rid of our QB coach who was worthless, maybe we can coach up and teach our QB's how to improve on their skills, Including Jake.

As for Jake, he hasn't improved since our SB run in 2003. Thats not a good sign if you are a pro athlete. you want to improve each year and if you don't, you're job should be in jeopardy

For those of you backing Fox so much...when he did step in, how come nothing changed? We were worse after he stepped in...as you claim he had to do. IMHO, he didn't "step in", he "took over".

did you see the offenses we played after fox stepped in....its probably good nothing changed as opposed to become bad after he stepped in. Fox was not the problem.

at this point this is getting stupid, are you saying that Trgovac knows more about coaching a Defense then Fox? didn't think so. quit being a retard the rest of us would appreciate it.

Gawd I've never liked Patty, never. :boxing_smiley: He's a vulture, pure & simple. He hovers over the dead bodies and thinks they tell him important news. Rumor monger. He's the nosey old lady on the block that no one ever liked.

Trgovac is the past. It's the off season. The team is looking forward and I am too. Go Meeks! :gnorsi:

You don't know how to read, do you? People have been saying that if the man was good at his job, Fox would not have stepped in. Right? Right. I said, our D was decent until mid season...when Foxed stepped in. Then it got worse. I think both men need a wake up call actually because our defense has sucked with and without Fox's help the past two seasons.

FYI, Moore had a broken leg when the team traded for McCown. So the fact is that Moore wasn't beaten out at that point. In fact, it's debatable if we would have even traded for McCown if that break never occured. All we have are guesses, and none of them worthwhile.

That's not saying they wouldn't have installed McCown as #2 once he learned the offense (assuming we did trade for him even if Moore was healthy). After all, he was a vet that Fox & co. have apparently liked for quite some time. So it's not unreasonable to assume that they would rather have a vet with starting experience as the primary backup while Moore continued to learn and develop.

With that said, I like McCown. I think he occasionally caught the Jake syndrome, trying to do too much in order to make something happen....sometimes to his own detriment. But I do like his athleticism, his arm strength, and his ability to make something out of a busted play. What I want to see before annointing him anything more than a solid vet backup, though, is can he improve his accuracy, play more under control, and make smarter decisions in this offense with these weapons.

Im sorry but if the Head coach is a defensive guy your gonna expect him to have input. I think why we saw more of Fox the last two years was cause Trgo's plan was not working. I mean even in the 2nd half of the playoff game you knew that had foxes stamp on it but on Offense you knew it was Davidson cause Fox is a run first guy and man we didnt even see Dwill that game except the fist series. JPep want out of Carolina plan and simple and I dont care if we bring Vince Lombardi back from the grave he is gonna leave. He is just ready to spread his wings.

it's funny how offensive head coaches who call their own plays and gameplan aren't considered meddlers. People know that John Fox initiates what style of defense we play and that he ran a few meetings and suddenly not only is he a horrible coach, but he doesn't know anything about defense, either. And, of course, his coaches and players are all dying to leave because of it. Is that really the simplest, most logical explanation?

The problem with this statement is that Fox only stepped in the last two years, and then only after the defense already started to struggle. Up until that point, he let Trgo do his thing...and during that period our defense was pretty good. But something changed, and it happened before Fox ever stepped into a defensive meeting. In fact, something had to change to make Fox believed he needed to step in after letting Trgo run things his way for so many years. Coaches don't just randomly decide after four years (five if you count the year with JDR) of letting the DC run things that the defense suddenly can't survive without his input, even coaches as anal as Fox.

IMO, a big part of the problem is almost certainly a change in personnel, I just don't think Trgo was able to adapt to player losses. Also, another problem seems to be a bit of burnout by Trgo. Just listening to him, he sounds like a man that needs to step back and recollect himself.

Of course Trgo was running the defense Fox wanted him to run, but that's the case with almost every successful coach. He gives the coordinators an outline of what he wants from their respective units, and lets them build the scheme around those guidelines. Once you hear about a coach stepping in, it usually means the guidelines and goals he set are not being met.

    • I could be waaaaaaay off about Kon. I do fault myself into, to borrow a NFL phrase heavily "RAS" nerd on players, too much. There are PLENTY of athletic freak shows that are playing overseas(or Amazon delivery) cause they never figured out NBA ball. I can easily miss seeing the talent. Plus did he only have 2 dunks on the season??(is that for real??) I didn't watch over a few hours of duke, but not one point did I think "That Kon guy is a top 4 pick in the upcoming draft". IMO I still foresee Ball bringing the ball up, doing his weak isolation game and never even looking for Kon. That's his best trait according to everyone, shooting right? I do not see ball, bridges, miller or even williams making the extra pass to Kon for him to shoot a 3.  Then defense-wise, Im not ready to type the amount of questions I foresee in his ability for guarding NBA SGs or bench SFs for that matter. Not that NBA players care to defend, but still..... I just feel he's a bad fit for the current hornets, trades are taking place tho... Liam to me is a decent comp for Kon and he fell some, but was a 29 overall pick. Still around 13-21 was the good solid range for Liam and I thought the same for Kon. This is just a classic case of I need to see it. It add to this, Kon is like garlic. Ball is like sugar and Miller is like flour. Mix it together and chef Lee is not going to get me to eat that dish..... Honestly I don't know why Im this vocal about Kon. In past years I would be patience and not post and see what the kid has. The other side, insert classic white boy terms here- _____, ______, _______< etc >. Hornets do desperately need them. His crafty back door cuts, his willingness to stay a extra 2 hours to refine lees plays, keep playing with bruised limbs. I heard from many reports he's mentally tough and hornets by all gods need that. God they are such pussys.  I hope Im wrong and if so, I will give Kon his just props.
