DeAngelo Willams and Charles Johnson get RFA Tenders

this is great news, I hope both get the first and third round tender

just a side-note but what if we had put a second rounder on Moore last year? Would someone have bit? Would we have grossly overpaid him? What player could have been had to beef up our d-line in the second round- these are the thoughts that keep me occupied on a Thursday morning

Good. Might get a first and third rounder out of D-Will
that would be nice, but i don't see it happening. more than likely he will be back next year.

fwiw, the numbers for 2011 as provided for in the current CBA (in M$):

Veterans with 3 accrued seasons:

3.317 - 1st & 3rd round compensation*

2.611 - 1st round compensation*

1.835 - 2nd round compensation*

1.200 - original round compensation*

1.200 - right of first refusal

* or 110% of the previous year's pay (whichever is higher)

williams was ddue for $750k last year but hit escalators that jumped him up to $2.1mil. 110% of that is just 2.31mil so he'd be going with the $3.317mil.

i expect johnson will get the 1st round tender and i can't imagine that his salary last year was anywhere close to the $2.611mil he'd get for the 1st round tender. the two of those guys could easily be flipped, but they should get the top two tenders.

He would have been gone no doubt. He was coming off one of the best 5 game stretches in the league and was the #1 FA QB.

It would either force us to grossly overpay him or let him leave and have our QB stable prior to the draft consist of Hunter Cantwell.

It could have done a lot for us on the flipside. If you believe the pressure of having a one year deal and Clausen behind him got to Moore, having the second round tender and thus the FO matching a longer term contract, he would have had the confidence that they were behind him and not worried about being unemployed and played free and like he did in 09. (just for you "pressure" guys)
