Yeah we are on the same page.  I'd rather keep Horn for the potential, but Moore knows the system and is another vet who is decent at special teams as well.  I'd prefer Horn and just stashing Moore on PS until someone gets hurt.

We about to learn something about Dave IMO.  And what he values.  And how much weight being a Dave guy carries.   Just guess work right now.

I dont see any scenario where we couldn't release David Moore and sign him back since he not subject to waivers.

Why we should keep him on the initial 53 roster is beyond me.

Keeping him on the initial 53 when we can protect other players seems pointless.

If we are going to keep 7 WRs, I hope we keep Brycen Tremayne. And then maybe cut him after initial claims and sneak him onto PS. He's a big possession type receiver who just keeps making plays.

Yeah, he's made some plays. The thing is though, he's really just a possession receiver. Horn, theoretically, provides speed and explosiveness. He's just so small though, and he really provides zilch as far as blocking down field (unlike Tremayne). It will be interesting to see what happens there.

To be clear, I dont see any scenario where we dont keep Jimmy Horn.

And Im not knocking David Moores value to this team.

I just think from a roster management perspective, keeping a younger guy over David Moore on the initial 53 if we keep 7 WRs (or someone else at a different position) makes much more sense

we don't really know much about Davein this regards though...

but just to argue the other side.

Week 1...how do you justify his existence if you are a coach?  That's the Horn problem.  And it might uniquely apply to him amongst the WRs.

I understand your point.

If everyone is healthy, I think Horn is inactive, at least to start the season.

My money is on Renfrow being WR5 and PR1 to start the season.

I think Horn will have to wait until an injury to get legit playing time

I think Canales needs to pull Raheem Blackshear off of returns for these last two preseason games. That's really the best way to gauge whether or not one of these borderline guys can contribute in other ways. It is not looking like Blackshear is going to make the 53, so those are wasted reps imo. Split time between Horn and Renfrow and see what we have.

Also, Canales loves David Moore, so dismissing him is a mistake on fans' part. He plays special teams well and can be depended on, if needed, to make plays on offense. That's valuable for a 4th-5th receiver. I don't think he is a 100% lock, but there is something to be said for the trust Dave has in him.

I don't think Horn is guaranteed. I don't think Moore is guaranteed either. I don't think that we'll keep either one of them if by chance someone is cut that would be an upgrade to either. I'm not downplaying Moore though. An experienced vet that can legitimately fill in when injury bug bites is not to be taken for granted.

    • Went to school in MD when this came out. Dance floor got CRAZY when this joint came on!
    • They had best show out in Week 1 there are zero,I mean zero,  excuses for that offense  defense, haven’t play together yet and they still have Mr Soft and Predictable as DC  I expect break downs at times  …but that offense returns all starters except Tremble and both Mayes and Brady are veterans and can play LG and know the system not up for any participation awards this season they can save that practice energy for Jacksonville.     I’m sick of the, winning,  or looking competitive, when it doesn’t matter.
    • There are some tough decisions that I'm eager to see the results of... Does Blackshear sneak on to the roster as RB4? Does the team go with 4 TEs or just 3 again? And has Mitchell Evans done enough to defend his roster spot from James Mitchell? Who is WR6 and is there a WR7? TMac, XL, Coker, and AT seem to be locks imo and I'm assuming Renfrow also makes it due to all of the camp praise. Who makes it between Brycen Tremayne, Jimmy Horn Jr, and David Moore? If the team goes with 7 WRs, which one of those three doesn't make it? Jacolby George and Emani Bailey both have not gotten a lot of game time. Could the Panthers be trying to hide them so that they can be stashed on the PS? Do they go with 10 OL instead of 9? Who makes it out of Walton, Carter, and Kingston? DL locks are DB, BB3, ARob, and Turk. That leaves Jaden Crumedy, Cam Jackson, Sam Roberts, Shy Tuttle, and LaBryan Ray all competing for the final 1 - 3 spots. Does DJ Johnson get IR'd and Thomas Incoom make the roster as EDGE5? What in the fuuuuuuuuuuuuck is going to happen at LB? Only locks seem to be Wallace, Rozeboom, and Cherelus (Wallace has mentioned in media how Cherelus has been big bro for him on the team). Rhattigan had some good moments against Houston, Martin-Scott is an SC guy, Krys Barnes has popped on defense and on special teams, and Windmon got time starting for the team last season. Are two of those guys going to make it or are the Panthers poaching from another team's cuts? CB5... who is it? Do they go with the 4 expected safeties or bring in a 5th? Has Ransom done enough to take the start from Nick Scott?
