Charlotte NC is turning into cesspool

It’s currently ranked as one of the most crime infested cities in US and apparently no one in Charlotte knows how to fix it.  Latest statistic showed that you have 1 in 134 chance to be a victim of violent crime.

Just this past Friday at South End light rail station around 9pm, 23 year old girl was beaten and stabbed to death by violent offender who has been released out of jail on numerous occasions after committing felonious acts.  He has no idea why he murdered her.

Sheriff department does not keep violent offenders locked up but simply releases them back on the streets.

I really don't understand what anyone sees in living in a big city but god bless 'em. Keep them there and the fug away from here. I watched my once rural community in Colorado get ruined by an influx of outsiders. Don't wanna see the same happen here but won't be surprised if it does.

For me it was 100% the walkability of a big city

It’s been this way for years now.  Just getting worse and worse.  I work downtown and it’s absolutely a cesspool.

Homeless people are coming into University hospital and asking for food.  I mean like walking in the office areas.  It’s wild and my wife doesn’t feel safe working there anymore

Man, it's almost like there is some major systemic problems in our communities making crime, violence and drugs a viable alternative to whatever else.

I've lived in Charlotte since 1985.  I've been going downtown pretty readily for the past 20 years.  I will agree, there is a lot more to worry about.  It has gotten worse as the services and social safety has been cut and undermined.

There is also a major problem in our homes and families.  Kids don't just decide to jump into gangs and drugs.  They do that when there are no opportunities or hope.  That's not a political statement, but it's straight from the Framework for Understanding Poverty by Ruby Payne.

City planners have let down the public and honestly should be removed from their seats.  You cannot continue to let people move to Charlotte and provide no relieve or infrastructure.  We are not a big city, we do not have infrastructure of a big city but we keep giving out permits to builders like sunflower seeds.  We do not generate enough revenue to account for the inflow of people.  Charlotte/NC need to start taxing new arrivals to area and that tax should directly go into public transportation development/city infrastructure but we got too many idiots that don’t know how to run a city.
