I just watch Panthers ball, so my perception is skewed by that.  I don't care about watching other games, so from that stand point, football always seemed "free".  I see your point, just clarifying from my view.

Well sure, but if you're in NC, you would get them through a basic cable package.  And if you're not in the local area, then the cost would be fair because it's comparable to needing to go to a bar to watch every week.

I'll also put it this way...

Of all the subscriptions I have to pay for these days (and it's way too many), it's really one of only two that I feel are a fair price that I don't mind paying, the rest are all way too high.

Side note... the other is for AMC's A-List, by far the best deal in entertainment (at least if you love the movie theater experience like myself).  $20 a month and can see up to 4 movies a week, 2 movies a month and you're making money on it compared to buying them individually.  I passed my break even point for the year in June, so will get 6+ months of "free" movies through the end of the year.

If they did just Panthers for $40/month, then I'd probably do it. I don't need every game every sunday, and they really should have smaller packages like this to offer.

The NFL is run mostly by men (I assume). So, as soon as you say "smaller packages" you have lost their attention.

I'll see myself out.

fug this noise. I pirate all the games while out of state.

And when the day comes where all options are gone but forking over a preposterous amount to these companies, I will walk away from the NFL completely.

IMO, the problem with prices does boil down to people like tukafan not putting their foot down and walking away. Real estate, entertainment, etc would all be cheaper if people didn't overpay/

The NFL averages 2.2 million viewers per PRESEASON game, the HOF game had 6.9 million viewers.

The NBA Finals averaged 10.3 million viewers for the Finals and 4.5 million across the playoffs overall.

They aren't even comparable, the NFL makes twice as much money a year as the NBA does, of course the TV packages are going to be very different.  Also, tons of fans will watch as many NFL games as possible (mainly because of Fantasy), but not a whole lot of them are going to be watching random NBA games every single night, at least not in comparison to with the NFL.

you win, I'm gonna go drop $1000  on TWO sunday ticket subscriptions

So me "putting my foot down" would be me spending more money each season to watch the games without sound at the bar?

Do you not see how dumb that sounds?

Streaming a game here or there isn't tough, but doing it for 17 games a season, when more than half the time the quality is terrible if it's even working at all, and it's just an awful experience to follow your favorite team.

It's literally spending at minimum an extra $100 a season to have a worse viewing experience if I were to "put my foot down" as you say, and then don't get to also be able to easily watch all my fantasy players as a bonus on top.

I spent at over a dozen years going to the bar every Sunday to watch us play, so now that I get to watch from the comfort of my couch, plus get all the other games, and spend less money doing so, yea, I'm going to pay that money without a second thought, it's a great deal for me and tons of other fans.
