I'm sure that scenario was brought up and I hope that the assurance came from Tepper and not Dan Morgan. But im not so sure he has an assurance that he still has a job if the rest of the team is ass and he sucks as a head coach.

I think that is totally valid. When I look at it, it looks like we have basically two coordinators independent of each other. And he does not control the defense which seems to be decreed from above.
ST ahead a horrible day but overall have not really been a problem. Muffed punts yeah but not unit wide collapse like yesterday. I am goi g to put that in a burn the tape category for them

Leaving offense. And the offense is being brought down by the QB. Like it usually has been the previous seasons.
I totally get that despite an agreement Tepper could break the agreement finding cause but that is being set up big time to fail.

It was destined to fail from the start. The longer this project continues the more damage it creates.  The desperation to salvage something from that franchise crippling trade is evident. But they are oblivious to it.

Canales got a long contract on purpose. It was in case Young didn't work out and they would have to reset at QB in year 3. He's totally going to be here for year 3 next year and probably year 4 most likely.

If you give him a year 3, you can’t let him draft a QB with the first pick

If you’re going to allow Canales and Dan to pick the qb, you have to be willing to commit to them two more years.

firing them next year puts us right back into this cycle where a new coach has a qb he didn’t choose. It is a perpetual cycle of problems.

if you’re not willing to do that, you fire them both and let the new regime build it all from scratch

Yeah I think Tepper might be trying to shake off the stigma of being a meddlesome owner by letting Morgan and Canales get their own QB and giving it a few years.

Then, when that inevitably fails because well duh, they'll both get fired and we'll start this whole fun process all over again.

No one is talking about a really bad situation that totally sets us up to fail, and that is no continuity.
7 years now almost since Rivera was sent packing and we have had NONE.
At some point you have to be unshakeable.
if you cut and run without giving Canales his QB and his staff, you repeat the dysfunction.
I think that needs to be considered and I don’t see that happening with people here.

When you do that you are signing on for another 3 years of this same dysfunctional offense hoping it's just the qb that's the problem. If you haven't noticed it is much more than that.

so you disagree that continuity has been a source of our dysfunction. Okey.
The point is not moot.

What is there to continue? If Canales was showing something other than he is just an OC and not a good one at that then maybe. But I have yet to see one thing in him worth investing in. He's no different than our qb. There's nothing there to build on. The only reason he's here is because he's friends with Dan who had no other option. For that reason alone we a stuck with him. But no, I would not continue down a path I know is going to fail and this experiment has run it's course with me.

I am not married to Canales but he severely handicapped by this situation. Anyone would be.
Throw him out with the bath water and whatever. I want a new QB. I would cut him today. Anyone is better than him. Anyone.
I have been looking at this poo for too long and am not having a good day with it very frustrated.

Thats on Dan Morgan to cut him and to have a backup plan. Until Canales benches him the show goes on. I'm as sick of this crap as anyone brother and I am not going to enjoy another failed reset.

But one thing I know for sure is this group is not going to make this team competitive. Giving a bad driver a new car to drive does not make them a better driver. Just saying.
