I wouldn't go that far. He's basically a James Anderson/Will Witherspoon level player. Check the box starter. Not a problem area but not a guy you make a cornerstone of your defense either.

Tell me you didn't just lump Will Witherspoon in with James Anderson. Those two are in no way comparable, with Witherspoon being levels above.

Three 100+ tackle seasons in 12.

All three guys peaked around the same level.

You can't be serious. Anderson piled up tackles but was in no way near as dynamic or effective as Witherspoon. I'm not saying Witherspoon was HOF worthy or anything because he wasn't but equating those two players is flat out wrong.

Witherspoon was way more of an impact player than Shaq or Anderson and is above both of them. Hell, 14 career interceptions and 11 forced fumbles (Spoon) to 3 and 5 (oddly enough both Shaq and Anderson have the same numbers) and he played in the early 2000s for a couple of years when pro sets/ground and pound was still a thing. Shaq was supposed to be a super athlete but effectively took over right where Anderson left off.

Do I think Spoon was the best of the bunch? Yeah. Do I put him head and shoulders above the others? No.

He had three 100+ tackle seasons in 10 season. Shaq has had four in 11.

Shaq got over 100 tackles 4 straight years after TD left, then he couldn’t stay healthy. Being the 3rd LB with Luke and TD limited his stats earlier in his career but once he got TD’s spot he was good.

They all kinda mirrored each other like that Spoon's and Anderson's three 100+ tackle seasons came over the course of a four year span.

Will Witherspoon deserves better praise than that. We should have kept him over Morgan when it was obvious Morgan’s body wasn’t going to hold up.

Nice house. No offense to Shaq, but this kind of over-the-top spending is why athletes go bankrupt after retiring. No one needs a house this big and expensive. Live below your means, especially in an industry with very short careers.

Based on his career earnings this doesn’t seem that bad. As long as he’s prudent elsewhere. I’m not sure when he bought the home.

I have nothing against WItherspoon, I just know when we put Shaq in TD's spot he played great.  More opportunity more tackles.

    • And that makes you right.
    • Mel Kiper said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL starter too. Just because the experts make a claim doesnt mean it's true either.  Bryce may be a serviceable QB for someone. Serviceable QBs don't bring you a perennial winner or lead you to the playoffs over and over. Serviceable QBs also dont get 50m plus per year deals which is what a Bryce extension would look like.  The stats show he hasn't been even a serviceable QB in the 3 years he's been here. The eye test shows he hasn't put together 2 franchise QB salary games back to back in 3 years.  Complain all you want about people being negative, but people pointing out that Bryce is held to a different standard than anyone else on the team isn't complaining. It's stating the obvious.
    • We have big bodied WRs and 3 TEs who all have potential and each bring something different to the table. I never saw the need to go out there and try and find a new starting TE.  While it's nice to have a guy like McBride, Bowers, etc, I think a team's better use of the cap is by having TEs on rookie contracts or cheap vets, not having to pay elite TE money.
