The Bryce Young "Game Winning Drive" narrative needs to end

According to Pro Football Reference, a game-winning drive (GWD) is defined by the following criteria:

  • The team must win the game.
  • The offensive drive must occur in the fourth quarter or overtime.
  • The scoring play that ultimately puts the winning team ahead for the final time must be the result of this offensive drive.
  • At the start of the drive, the team must be tied or trailing by no more than one score (1-8 points).
  • The drive can start in the third quarter, as long as offensive plays are run in the fourth quarter or overtime.

You can argue for or against the usefulness of GWDs as a stat but it is a defined stat.

Baker was fuging garbage here. Darnold was not in the end, but Darnold was also jettisoned after an incredible season in Minnesota, because they didn't believe he'd lead them over the hump.

But Darnold and Baker both have physical tools BY just doesn't have.

We are the common denominator.  That's the point.

People write novellas trying to convince people of their biased opinions in favor of iil man but someone does a rebuttal and it is a bad fanning. Okay.
I liken it to when a law firm goes up against a bigger law firm and the discovery documents and evidence shows up on a forklift at the little law office. Roomful of boxes floor to ceiling to go through. Classic movie scene.
It is hoping the other side will just give up because it is too exhausting to fight it

The thing is he for real was not impressive at all in some games that we won and some are included here.
That NYG Europe game for instance.
So tiresome. It mostly is just a bunch of lobbying.

He is on the backstretch rounding the turn heading into  the home stretch. The back 9 on the final day

unless you think it should take more than three years to assess.

I think we are going to see things that make all these 2000 word essays moot. Then we will see. It is in his hands not ours.

So much effort to dismiss the play of 1 man.

In the history of this franchise,  I jave never seen this much effort to dismiss the impact of any player.

Flip side is also true.

Putting this much effort into hating on a dude who is at the helm of our organization if just wild to me.

Stop saying he's good!  He sucks!  Wild take.

What didn’t you root harder for Jimmy Clausen?  By Bryce logic, everyone should have shunned the idea of drafting Cam Newton.   Drafted a WR instead.  Given Jimmy more support.

pessimism is only frowned upon on the huddle when it is applied to select people.  A lot of the same  folks that deem people pessimistic for pooing on a really bad QB….poo on all sorts of different Panthers and coaches.

Bryce doesn’t have traditional NFL tools and has been really bad overall going into his 3rd season.  It’s not being a pessimist at this stage to be tired of the little engine that really can’t

Look I’m one of Bryce Young’s greatest critics.

But in 2003 Jake Delhomme threw 19 TDs and 16 Ints and barely got 3200 yards. We went to the Super Bowl and won 10 games by 1 score or less. And guess what, we wouldn’t have gotten there without Jake.

Maybe we don’t have a Newton this time, maybe we have a Delhomme who makes you cuss as much as you cheer. And honestly I don’t give a single damn if we have a Clausen as long as we are winning games.

My biggest gripe about Bryce is that we weren’t winning games, now we are winning games. Winning cures all. And if we start falling apart again then it’s  whatever and we should change whatever we need to so we can fix it, but right now something is working.

Probably has something to do with the fact we have moved on from guys at this stage….Bryce still being trotted out there because of a reallly bad over investment

Jake went to the Super Bowl his first season.

Bryce has 1 road win in year 3.

Bryce isn’t present day Jake

Comparing Bryce to Pickles is another crazy take imo.  No idea why y'all hate this kid so bad.

I don't think I am going to get anywhere if you can seriously make that comparison.  Wild.

If Bryce’s record was flipped and he had the same performance we wouldn’t have these conversations. It all has to do with winning/not winning. Unfortunately for him, he had a big part of us not winning. Now we are .500 and he deserves the right to have a part in that as well. Train goes off the tracks again then oh well.

Yeah but if you want to talk about help around somebody, Jake Delhomme had it- especially in 2003

That OL, Muhammad/Smith, Peppers, Morgan, Rucker, Witherspoon, Minter, Kris Jenkins, Ricky Proehl, John Fox, Stephen Davis, etc.

To what? Frank Reich? Chuba? Leggette? DJ Freakin Chark?

Delhomme was also like 30 years old and had been in the league half a decade

I've never seen a team give up 3 first round picks for a guy either.
