Carroll wouldn't necessarily be an "in game" presence (not in my scenario anyway) just someone to offer a little guidance on certain things like offseason prep.

He needs in game help as well. I think he now sees he's got to change their offseason routine. What he's done hasn't worked for 2 seasons now. There's no excuse for a 3rd.

First things, first.....you would have to rid the org of Jim Caldwell and Dom Capers for your scenario to play out.  Which I support.

but I still say, Jim Caldwell is a problem and a problem with influence.  Meaning, he is likely hard to get rid of.

we need clean breaks, which we never do.  Always the old messes bleeding into the new mess (likely helping create the new mess)

I don't think we'd absolutely have to, but I'd support it if we did.

well, I think Dave Canales just needs to hire a really good OC and work on being a HC.  I think that would be better than Pete Carroll being added to the advisory of this team.

There's this Rivera guy I've heard of...

Ron is an older version of DC. He was always slow to make any changes, especially on offense. Painful as it is to remember, we ran the exact same offense in SB50 without making changes and Denver wiped the floor with us because they knew exactly what was coming. DC needs to be either the HC or OC, he's shown he really can't be both.

I'm not one to go around a nitpick his performance. I give credit or blame wherever and to whomever deserves it. Young just keeps resurrecting himself just when you thought it was over. I admire his resilience to bounce back but it is infuriating to watch him implode. I'm over that Jekyl and Hyde rollercoaster ride. I'm to the point that I have no faith in this FO to see beyond his draft status and to be able to evaluate and prepare for the day he no longer bounces back.

I'm not sure they look at his draft status at all. As a fan, we think that happens. I honestly don't feel it's happening here at all. He is the obvious best QB on the roster. If they can continue to develop him to where his poor performances would pretty much be the exception....then I can see why they want him.  When he is on point, he makes amazing throws, even for a man his size. His ability to make plays off platform is fantastic.

I am with you, his poor performances are beyond frustrating.

He is so incredibly clutch,  I still find myself astonished with what he does in the clutch.  2 TD'S off 4th downs is badges, regardless of the physical talent.

Doubt Ron would leave his gig w/ his alma mater to.....help Tepper out

Don't know that he would, but it's an interesting thought.

mike mcdaniels would be a nifty addition but DC isnt going to fire his partner in crime

Person also said there's zero chance of Canales giving up his playcalling duties.

But OC isn't necessarily the only job that might be available, especially if some of the current staff have other opportunities (or even simply aren't under contract).

Lots of guys who lose head coaching jobs work their way back up from the bottom.

Rivera is more of a fanciful thought than anything else 😄

That said, I do think there's at least a half decent chance we have a different defensive coordinator next season, and there's more than one possibility as to how that might happen.

D been better than the O on the season.   I mean, I know it isn’t popular to say as everyone been dreaming about Evero leaving.

Defense still isn't what I'd call great, but at least it's better than last year. Whether that's Evero or better personnel is a matter of opinion.

Bottom line for me is I won't be all that upset if he gets a new job.

Oookaaay. just to review the original topics and where we're at to this point:

- Jeremy Fowler, Dan Graziano, Joe Person have all said that they expect Young's fifth year option to get picked up, with Person calling it an "easy decision".

I've yet to see anyone say otherwise, and barring something crazy happening there'll likely be more insiders and analysts making the same prediction in months to come (especially if we make the playoffs).

- Also doubt anyone disagrees that Dave Canales isn't being retained (which was actually the first point thrown out in this thread) and any staff changes that do happen will probably be backfilling as opposed to replacing.

- Front office? Turnover, title changes and promotions are pretty close to an annual thing there. May or may not be major moves, but there will likely be changes. Heck, there are some prior positions currently unstaffed which they may be looking to fill (Neil Stratton is always a good source for news of that sort).

...

So, questions? Comments? Insults? 😕

Or are we good?

    • I used to think Juan was a Zod alt. Agree he's a great poster.
    • Hawks said nah we good and sent him to the shadow realm aka the Wizards. Cold blooded. I mean they're 2-2 in a series with a young up and coming Knicks team largely through 34 year old CJ McCollum. Even if they ultimately lose the series at least they are there and have something to build on. I think Hornets fans are just beaten down and lack the objectivity to assess the situation. They think we are going to get so much worse if and when we finally change gears. Worse how? We've already been a lottery team for years now. We've already been looking to win our first playoff series in about a quarter century. We already can't get past the play in and in failing to do so we have completely embarrassed ourselves twice looking like we don't even belong. Honestly there is absolutely no excuse for a team like the Magic to be more competitive and successful than us in the playoffs. Absolutely disgusting. But that's just me. I was fuging lit when we got the Hornets back in Charlotte but that is old old news. It's time for these boys to get into a playoff series. Enough is enough. If they can't do it for 2026-27 then they need to make wholesale changes regardless.
    • Not one single pick that is asking me why we drafted a guy in the first place. It was a guy we needed and/or a guy that had certain traits making them stand out. Best of all, I feel everyone we drafted are capable of stepping onto the field this year and have a meaningful role (even Kuwatch on special teams). Obviously, nothing is guaranteed but I'm not seeing any huge flags on guys because they're risky projects or massive overreaches.
