Joe Person: Ickey is expected to be extended, Mays is someone we want to keep long term, TE, LB and OLB are our biggest needs heading into the offseason

I guess neither Sanders or Evans hits the spot. Tremble only once in awhile.

New Huddle thing: "Can he play TE?"

I think Tremble is the one that needs to be worried. Sanders could be on thin ice as well. I think Evans has them reevaluating to TE position. They need another Evans but bigger.

If a dynamic tight end like Sadiq is there, take him; otherwise we’re fine at TE. The real needs are edge rusher and linebacker, we have to improve the pass rush and the LB play is mediocre. Prioritize adding speed at the skill positions and building depth at defensive tackle, cornerback, and along the offensive line.

Every year, without fail, some draftnik or analyst somewhere pegs us as taking a tight end in round one.

Feels like it's been an annual thing since the team's inception.

Signing Mays to a long term deal to be a long term starter at C is a bad idea.

Signing Mays to a reasonable deal to be a long term RESERVE is a very smart idea.

Seconded.

I let my Athletic subscription lapse because of how crappy the Panthers have been but they're offering a dollar a month deal for a year right now so I may sign back on.

I like Mays well enough but he's ultimately a bottom third/quarter NFL starting center. We must endeavor to do better, preferably through the draft.

That said, much like BC, Mays is a valuable backup because of his versatility. We do need to keep him around but not at a substantially above market rate amount.

Basically, Geoff Hangartner part deux.

Mays can back up the interior while Christensen backs up the tackles.

I like Tremble.

I'd have to agree Sanders looked better last year than he does now.
