Unfortunately, we will have Young here for the next 2 years at least. With that in mind, I would be a bit more concerned about an off-season extension, rather than picking up the year 5 option, similar to what the Jags did previously with Lawrence.

Yeah. I don’t remember what site it was…  might’ve been the athletic, but I saw an article about why the Colts signing Rivers was so damning for young QBs, and it was basically saying it demonstrates the amount of confidence organizations have in the 25-and-under crop of QBs.  It is further evidence that what’s happening prior to the pros is not conducive to developing QBs for the pros.  They can’t read defenses.  And I have to agree…  overall, with a few exceptions like Maye, so many teams have over reached for franchise guys and so many are busting - not even turning out average, but just flat out sucking.

If we sign Bryce to a long-term franchise QB contract this offseason that'll probably be curtains for me and the Panthers. That would be guaranteed mediocrity at best for years to come. I'd rather suck but have hope than signing up for that. Tepper promised us the days of mediocrity were over. The thing is we were never really mediocre. We were very hit or miss. But those hit years kept it interesting and hopeful.

Still blows my mind that such a well ran organization like the Steelers was dumb enough to draft that guy in the 1st.

He was the floatiest turd in a historically bad QB draft.

Should have been a late 2nd at best.

To your point, I would say that it goes hand-in-hand with few teams actually playing defence at the college level. Scores either tend to be shootouts, or completely lopsided.

I don't think a desperation signing in December signals much of anything. Every decent under 25 year old QB is currently on a roster and the trade deadline is past.

I definitely think the situation dictates some of it.  I also think Steichen’s familiarity with Rivers has a lot to do with it.  But I also think the point remains…  they have multiple young QBs on their roster and still chose to sign Rivers.  So some of it isn’t so much to do with where all of the young QBs are, but more to do with there aren’t many worth their salt coming out of college to begin with.  If you have two QBs under 25 on your roster and still choose to sign a 44 year old guy who hasn’t played in 5 years, that speaks volumes (and I know AR is still considered injured, but I’ve read they also just aren’t in a hurry or being him back).

Bills vs. Pats seems like the game to watch at 1pm. Unfortunately for Panthers fans, the mid-afternoon time slot is STACKED with good games. There's at least 5 or 6 games this afternoon that are way more intriguing than tonight's prime time game.

If this were a normal Sunday, I'd watch the Panthers at 1pm and Red Zone after.
