My logic was hopefully a new HC would have a LOT quicker hook for Bryce. But, that is assuming they would even be allowed. I guess that's a call to the owner's box for permission.

There was a quick hook last year then they let him come crawling back. Then this year when Bryce missed a game we all saw that Dalton was behind washed.

This is why I just want Bryce gone. We need to wash our hands of him.

Oh,  I am definitely on board the Jettison Bryce Train but my logic is based on trying to get as many boxes ticked as possible.

I think we can all agree the only real chance of getting rid of anyone is likely Evero and that is probably just because he isn't going to resign with us.

I wouldn't deny it would be a bad look. But I do think he has conclusively shown he is a not a good head coach.

I think he needs to be replaced too.  But if you fire him after this season, I don’t think the hiring pool is gonna be any better.  Giving him another year will make the job look a lot better next offseason.  Assuming he doesn’t keep the team improving

I honestly am not sure the hiring pool will get better if we fire him this offseason, next offseason or the offseason after. This is a tough sell to any coach with realistic options.

This is why I'm okay with giving Canales another year. Not because I think he's good or that he deserves it but simply because I know that if we fire him he's going to be replaced by another third tier candidate with no other NFL HC opportunities with a very low likelihood of panning out.

Yeah, I suppose there is that. Not a bright outlook, that is for certain.

Yeah, don't mistake my defense of Canales as true defense of Canales. More just an acknowledgement of our situation as an organization and the lack of appeal to other potential candidates. Kinda like that Bryce conversation. It's about expectations. Canales basically is that mid-round pick likely backup caliber guy... who would be replaced by an equal caliber canididate. Based on that, I think it's unlikely we'd get an improvement and the carousel would continue.

I actually think that like Bryce, Canales isn’t in the top 25 NFL of his profession either.

He might not be but in the coaching search we basically have equivalency of finding a QB but we have no picks in the first five rounds and we're over the salary cap so we'd basically be looking at late round flier type picks and vet minimum type roster castoffs.

Oh yeah, not disputing that. I suspect our next head coach will be our worst yet.

I am not in the mood to argue for Canales but give him a QB that can run an NFL offense.

If we replace him, we likey get a newer version of him that promises to fix Bryce and has to learn the job. And will be making the same mistakes Canales made or different ones. And we will all have to watch while he does it and we have that now.

And on top of that we get a bunch of new position coaches and lose any continuity we have established. They’ll be learning different techniques and language and all that stuff. Someone we like won’t fit the new system, back to square one, all that stuff.

Bryce is the fundamental mistake, we won’t be fixed until that mistake is fixed. It has to be him.
So please just give me a trad NFL offense to watch. A full route tree and some play action done right.

I don't agree with the "earned the right to stay" part. I think DC is a bottom 5 head coach.

Have a heart my friend!! I think we both agree team-wise is low on talent, no? Personally I had them at 2 wins, 4 maybe at best and right now they sit at the miracle 7 with 3 games remaining. That is with playoffs still in the frame.....

Hes learning on the job as a young pup, plus simply they needs to be some sort of stop to the the "team reset" of HCs.

Im no big fan as I stated before, but 7 wins has broken my cold heart.....(wouldn't miss him tho..). He had no answer for the pitiful saints, but he also beat rams short-handed and green Bay in the bay.....Theres good and bad, maybe he can get better in future years.

There's a reason DC wasn't getting calls to be a HC. He wasn't ready. His indecisiveness is infuriating. His lack of awareness is mystifying. He jumped at the chance to grab the David Tepper retirement plan and who can really blame him. Maybe with time he can grow into the job. But we're on year 8 of our 7 year rebuild. I think I'm gonna need a hip replacement before we get a decent HC.
