I can’t help but imagine him next to Brown. Makes me think of the hogmolly Star/Short days.

Big guys with a history of foot injuries give me a lot of pause. They have a bad track record of reoccurring and he already has a history of reoccurring foot injuries.

Yes I was about to say. Lower body injuries for big guys is always a huge red flag. Fortunately a lot of good DTs will also be available in day 2. Frankly, I could see Caleb falling to day 2 and it may be worth the punt.

Not sure he's a great fit for us schematically. Small for NT and lacks length for DE. Historically Evero has liked smaller quicker NTs but I hope he gets over that. Finding a smaller quicker guy who can hold up to consistent double teams is looking for a real unicorn.

RAS all day!!!

You could almost perfectly predict pur picks just based off of highest RAS on the board. We weren't drafting for a football team, we were trying to build a track and field squad.

Those clowns thought we needed NFL version of the Globetrotters

Yea…anyone mocking him at #19 needs to smell the coffee. Good chance someone takes him top 10.

Yeah, I've been saying for awhile it's more likely he ends up top 10 than available at 19.

Unpopular opinion here though, but I think he carries one of the bigger bust risks in the 1st round. Love the athlete but I'm not sold on the football player.

We can disagree but I think he is one of the best players in this draft.  Granted I probably saw every collegiate snap so I am a bit biased and granted he was playing with probably the 2 best players in this draft (downs, reece) but this kid is special, the way he moves is just smooth and he is a tackling machine.

Surprised to see the 40 as the strongest predictor by a hair but not surprised to see it as the metric that gets guys overdrafted the most. Not surprised to see shuttle and 10 second split as strong predictors. I've always thought those were undervalued. I am surprised to see the three cone as basically just a nonfactor. It's one I've always valued but the data doesn't bear it out. Maybe just drop it or find some other test that might provide better insight. That one just doesn't seem to matter at all so why bother?

It does feel like positions like LB and S are where some athletic deficiencies can be masked by mental attributes like positioning, decision making, and instincts. Conversely you could be an athletic monster but have incredibly poor field skills and end up just being a strong, fast liability, ie just a track and field star.

Interesting fun fact.

I've been really warming up to Allen here of late. I'm usually not a big fan of off the ball LBs in the 1st but if we could get another impact LB who doubles as the QB of the defense... I mean that sounds very tempting.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
