I totally agree on wasting a draft pick on one this draft. Get an udfa and a FA and plow on to the next draft.

Just to go back to what you said before you think Willis is fighting for a backup job? When he took over for love the argument was he was already better than love. And his physical tools suggest that. Now primed to head into to free agency as the number 1 QB you think he's going back to the bench?

With the cardinals, browns, Steelers and Jets all out of reach of a QB in this draft? I would bet money he starts for one of those franchises day 1. And he's gonna get probably around what Bryce is gonna make this season to do it.

Like I said I will believe it when I see it.

So the single game passing yards record in franchise history isn't flashing? Here or there?

He flashes, like a caution light. What did he do the very next game?  For example.
It was SF MNF. Not too good. IIRC Canales tried to parlay that Atlanta game into okay Bryce can beat you with his arm. How did that work out? It flopped.

That is what we have been sitting here saying. He has played well but then it disappears back to same old Bryce. His floor is the problem more than his ceiling. He must raise his floor. That is the assignment and honestly it was the assignment last year too. You ready to pay him?

Do you have against Willis I believe you're around when we have the draft with corral and Willis were on the board and me personally I was banging the table for Willis as early as round one but a lot of people thought corral was better but it's amazing with a little coaching and time can do with me I always go with potential and upside versus oh the guy just plays football you know sometimes that's not enough

I am 100% for drafting or aquirung a qb. I'm not holding my breath for them to be the starter anytime soon.

My tailoring green idea was not for him to be the starter but to add some value beyond just a developmental quarterback I think size speed is something Bryce doesn't have he has those and would immediately feel the fourth and one package and possibly red zone and some power packages for us

His two best career games as a Panther were both in a dome in Georgia. I mean credit where it's due let's hang the banner. But what's his record everywhere else? What's his record against the Saints?

Whoa! I'm not defending BY as a franchise QB. Just saying he has flashed. I mean you can't flash any more than that. That and the 2024 Atlanta game with 5 total TDs. Agree that consistency is his biggest problem. Some games he just flat out refuses to throw the ball deep. It's so frustrating to me.

Not the next highest paid QB type money. Heck no! His inconsistent play is his biggest issue. His ability isn't as inconsistent as his mindset. Some games he's just out there dinking and dunking and completely ignoring anything over 20 yards. The statement I was responding to was he hasn't flashed in 50 games. That's just not true. When you throw for 450 yards in a game, but average under 200 yards, then that's absolutely a flash. He's shown that he can be productive. He just plays uber conservative some times. Game to game. Quarter to quarter. It's mind numbing some times.

Nothing. He's just not as good as you think he is.

I don't know that he is a pro bowler but I think he has earned the right to compete for a starting job. I think if he were in this draft he's the number 2 QB behind Mendoza. And his tools are better than Mendoza in terms of arm mobility. That said Mendoza is far more advanced as a passer.

I think if I'm one of those QB needy teams that needs a starter this season like are we saying he isn't better than Sanders? I think we are asking is he better than Kyler? I know he's better than Fields. And at this stage in his career he's better than Rodgers. So the idea that he won't start somewhere to me next year I can't see it

Plenty of teams are QB desperate so someone will probably roll massive dice on Willis and give him a legit franchise QB contract but that's insane. He hasn't done anything that warrants anything more than signing a short term prove it deal and being offered a fair chance to compete for a starting job in camp. Signing up for any commitment level beyond that would be crazy.

I think supply and demand plays a huge part in it. There are legit no other options this coming season if you aren't taking Mendoza 1 and don't already have a QB on your roster I don't think there are 2 better options than Willis and that's why you will have to pay and provide starter snaps to him. Maybe you can get him a darnold like prove it deal but I don't see any way possible he isn't starting. He played the back up to love this past season.

Then when given the chance to start when love went down he looked good. That to me says hey I need a promotion a chance on the big stage.

A chance? Sure. Paid like a sure thing? Crazy.

If watching Marty Hurney work taught me anything about re-signjngs and FA acquisitions it's that paying someone like they're great hoping that it'll vault them to greatness is a plan that almost always backfires.

Hey I'm not disagreeing with you it's the market. You have to look at what starting QBs are making. If he is being signed as your starting day 1 QB can you pay him less than 25 a year? I don't think so. Also I don't think your signing him past 2 years so to speak so 30-35 guaranteed sounds about right to me.
