Unc Basketball thread

When he said "AZ will have a great coach after me", I mean that's a giant flag that gives away the juice. Plus the fact that UNC job is still open, more to believe. Im glad they didn't wait, Davis just didn't have UNC coaching chops and its been clear since his start.

Yeah, you don't say something like that at his age in the prime of your coaching career unless you're gone. It's not like he's retirement age where it would be understandable to be thinking about the wellbeing of the program after you hang it up.

If he wins a national championship and leaves that job to come to UNC, that's the most blue blood baller move ever. I mean, when we poached Roy from Kansas Roy wad coming home. Poaching a guy with no ties to the program who just won a national championship at a really good program would be next level flexing on the college basketball world.

His closest ties are being friends with Few and Roy and them having gambled together back in 2017. That said, he apparently wanted the job in 2021 when the school hired Davis.

Yeah, UNC isn't going to hired a non-alum 20 year assistant at Gonzaga with no HC experience. But his success at Arizona clearly shows they should have.

If he wins the natty, he's 100% gone to UNC. People close to the Arizona program 100% believe he'll take the UNC job if he wins the championship at Arizona. Chance he stays if they lose though.

I thinks he's gone either way and its 99.88764%. Barring some unforeseen event.

UNC is still among the highest prestige with these pure BBall types. It was time and I look forward to a new beginning. There is a new group around there that want to build a NEW court and new facilities, maybe Lloyd can usher this in...

Honestly Roy was too old fashion, he hated hearing music while practicing and with the new age players there was a huge disconnect....Roy like to yell and coach hard, these giant ego soft hands players didn't like that. Glad it ended the way it did and not messy. He got them back on track and then some with those booster bought players.

Davis never had a clue and had no future ideas.

Next time I see my 1st cousin, I will try to get some insight. He sits with MJ when he's in town and did the same with Dean when he was able to. He knew about Matt and sending him to anger management. Last talk, he was tight lipped tho...

I can win 100$ if Arizona wins it but I hope they lose.

I hope Arizona wins and y'all get stuck with Billy Donovan and no high school recruits or portal transfers. It'll be really really funny

Stupid to say golden maye and Lloyd weren't coming just because you said but we're North Carolina? To be fair I don't think anyone would jump ship just to come to Duke either.

May will be the next to sign an extension. Then it’s Donovan or bust. They should have had a coach lined up before firing Hubert. Look at Kentucky, they couldn’t pry away a big time coach either and had to settle for Pope. Pitino is right that the blue bloods don’t have anywhere near the appeal they used to.

    • No need to explain everyone on here ‘drunk posts’ watching this team …who could blame anyone  when they were mentioned in the same breath as the Jets and Browns onward and upward as far as bryce’s little fella self, can take them
    • Sigh, we should of have kept Ashawn over this bum.
    • Well, everyone is a critic.  not much meat on the bone here in analysis but if the team needs motivation … lol   I have also heard a lot of talking head or two say that ‘Young is not in the same class as most of these teams and that in 12 of the 17 games he is the lesser QB   BR write up below  2025 record: 8-9 Last season, the Carolina Panthers made the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They won the division. Bryce Young made strides, throwing for 3,011 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions with a 63.6 percent completion rate. Wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan won the 2025 Offensive Rookie of the Year award. In free agency, the Panthers signed edge-rusher Jaelan Phillips and linebacker Devin Lloyd to bolster their middling defense. Carolina can win with complementary football if the offense continues to trend in the right direction. In 2026, Carolina will play the AFC North and NFC North on a first-place schedule, which includes matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, and the Seattle Seahawks. The club will have a much tougher 17-game slate than it had last year, which may lead to regression. The Panthers aren't on the same level as the league's top teams. We'll see the gap between them and division-winning clubs from the previous season. 2026 projection: 6-11
