Oh boy, prepare thy selves, extension is probably coming.  Fowler says the team is okay with only throwing for 185 yards etc.  Someone from team has most certainly fed him some info to get out.  Def worth a listen.

Wonder what the extension numbers would look like for a QB averaging 185 yards a game.

1. He shouldn't be extended anyway

2. IF they do give him an extension, and he's even scratching Top 10 money, the goodwill they've build as a FO is gone IMO.  If they're trying to give him a Darnold/Baker contract, easier to digest and understand. But if they're thinking 45-50+? Jesus

2.  Thats the question that everyone seems to be avoiding talking about.  Al Wallace said he was "absolutely" getting 50+ and he is worth that.

*Hopefully* we're smart enough to not extend him during this offseason. If he magically comes in next year, looks good, we're winning, etc., sure, toss a Baker extension at him.

But if they extend him at 50+ before the preseason and he comes out flat, pitchforks out.

I do feel like I'm living in an alternate reality.

Everything Scott said there is bonkers - they're happy not outscoring teams (his actual words), they're happy with 185 yards a game and playing ball control, Young has more value here than on any other team in the NFL. That's a man with job security who's sipping the Panthers Kool Aid.

The other NFC South GMs are dying for Morgan to extend Young. That tells you everything - he's holds this offence back and is such a replacement level player.

I get they're embarrassed that they traded the world (and crippled the franchise) for him a few years ago, but they simply have to move on.

I assume Al Wallace lives in the Carolinas somewhere and has a good deal of his income tied to a media job with the Panthers?

Nobody in this world can convince that the "185 yard" comment is not straight from the team if not tepper himself.  Nobody on Gods green earth that has watched football for more than 1 season cannot be shaking your damn head at that comment

I dont know his affiliation but his interview last week was a straight puff piece from the org, had to be, saying he was "absolutely" worth 50 per should be enough to get  you thrown into dorthea dix

People really need to stop placing Dan Morgan on some kind of infallible pedestal. He is absolutely in lockstop with Tepper regarding Bryce and has been all along.

As far as the team being okay with 185 passing yards per game. We better have a proven monster RB in our backfield then. Presently that guy is not on the roster. Chuba has one outlier season so far and the other guys have proven nothing. Not what you would call a great recipe. The only thing we can hope at this juncture is that the highest paid OL in the league for the second year in a row elevates their play from last season and opens up some massive holes even our RB's can get through. But it still doesn't resolve the issue of predictability. With no viable passing game it is much easier to shut down any run game. No defenses are scared of Bryce's arm. It is what it is.

I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players

Yeah it will truly be such a shame and a waste to build a great roster only to leave the likes of Bryce Young behind the wheel.

Like I said before it will amount to putting  fancy wheels ion a Vega. Or a go kart.

Or to tailor this to Tepper, ketchup on a great steak.
