Anyone else think this Charlie Sheen thing is just a publicity stunt?

Awesomeness!!

Wow. Before now I had you ranked in the upper enchilada of intellects on this site. I cannot describe in words how much I have a distaste for TMZ. In part because I hate this whole celebrity worship thing that TMZ has promulgated. It's part of the reason why more kids today would rather be the personal assistant to a celebrity than the CEO of a Fortune 500 (as recent studies indicate).

But mainly because they knocked The Simpsons off Fox's daily after-work boradcast. I want to see Stonecutters! Not who might have a baby bump or who went grocery shopping today! Fug TMZ and all those who watch it!

Sorry for the misrepresentation!

It's funny because I remember the first episode of TMZ 2-3 years ago and actually thought about it from a business perpspective for some odd reason. I thought how although this show may seem like the most stupid thing on earth, Harvy Levin might be actually be creating goldmine with the way society is changing....

I totally understand where you are coming from but I can't change the way society evolves so I just roll with it and choose to stay connected to a little piece of all of it and not ignore/hate it so nothing in life sneaks up on me. I find it helps me be able to stay "current" so to speak and also helps me relate better to people of all age groups, races, religions, etc. So, not only do I watch TMZ but I can also intellectually discuss all sports, music of any type, current world events/leaders, financials, long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners....wait what was this about again?

What the heck were you thinking?

(sorry JR, couldn't resist)

I'd agree watching Sheen self-destruct is less taxing on the brain than thinking about stuff happening in Libya, Wisconsin or NFL negotiating rooms. That said, while I'm somewhat amused by the whole thing, I'm not following it that closely. Watching Hollywood types go over the edge isn't exactly new. I don't follow Lindsay Lohan stories closely either.

I can't risk it. It's a slippery slope. One day you're innocently watching TMZ because LiLo is going to jail. Next thing you know, you're not getting a buzz anymore, so you start watching Jersey Shore, which you're only really watching because you're just making fun of how dumb they are. Then you step up to the really heavy stuff; Real Housewives of the OC, because the "Dramaaa" is too fun to miss. Pretty soon you're free-basing Kim and Klohe Take New York, and E! News Now. Before you know it you're on the street smoking People Magazine our of a tinfoil pipe and giving BJs for 5 minutes on Perez Hilton's Web site.

I've seen it happen before, and I won't let it happen to me.

I'll rank "the addictions" in the order of my favorites:

1. TMZ - Mindless entertainment at it's finest.

2. People Magazine - One of the first magazines I seek out in a doctor office waiting room. Next is Golf Digest because I know every waiting room has one of those.

3. E! Real News Now - A higher class TMZ and Ryan Seacrest is the host - enough said - one day they will change the name of that town from Hollywood to Seacrestwood because he will own it.

2. Real Housewise of the OC - Well, the original a few years ago...you know when Jo and Slade were together.

3. Jersey Shore - Not a huge fan but I tune in once in awhile because I can't decide if I really like Paulie D's hair or really hate it; or if I think Jwow is hot because she truely is attractive or hot because I just like trashy women.

4. Kim and Klohe take NY - Never watched it but it can't be that bad. I used to watch Keeping up with the Kardashians once in awhile back in the day and sure I have had Kardashian overload but if Kourtney makes a cameo on that show at least there are 2 hot women to look at.

5. Perez Hilton Website - Got Nothing - Flaming gayness is not my thing...no really it isn't

    • Baker was traded before he played his 5th year.  RGIII was cut before playing his 5th year. So it is rare but it happens.
    • Time to hit 4000 yards and 30 TDs (including rushing). I don't care about INTs anymore. That's a big part of the problem. He plays uber conservative until the game is on the line. Playing not to lose, instead of playing to win. Time to let it friggin rip from the get. The team can win with a pick or 2 if he has 3-4 TDs. Stop playing scared.  But to be fair, his WRs have not been great. You all can bash about 1st round picks and O-line cap all you want.  Chuba as your #1 RB his entire career.  Adam Thielen as your best WR for 2 of 3 seasons is ridiculous. Then a rookie as your best in the 3rd season. Legette is not a 1st round talent. Probably closer to a 4th if you compare him to Brazzel this year. Coker has been a walking injury report. Nothing else to really speak of at WR or TE. Jimmy Horn has potential, but he is not an NFL starter yet. Oline has been better as run blockers than pass blockers. Ickey has always been so-so as a pass blocking LT. Center has been a revolving door for 3 years. Damien Lewis has been as marketed. Hunt is a great run blocker but an ok pass blocker - when healthy. Moton has been solid at RT. Biggest problem with the oline has been depth. When someone went down, their replacement became a glaring weakness. Overall a good but not great unit the last 2 years. 2023 was a ish show. Nothing else to say.  Not one game breaker, take it to the house offensive weapon since DJ Moore. Hopefully we get a little of that from Brazzell.  Either way, in his 4th season, it doesn't matter. You have to be able to overcome whatever comes your way. First 3 seasons with a young supporting cast is defendable. Can't use that anymore though. 3rd year in the offense. 3rd year with the same HC.
    • Highest amount of OL salary cap in the league too. The Chiefs are behind us at 2 but we are ahead of them by a cool $23 million. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/position/offensive-line/_/year/2026/table/active/sort/cap_total
