Goodson

I don't have the stats but maybe someone can pull them - I don't think Goodson had anywhere close to the number of touches that DWill and JStewart had for your comparison. I hope I am wrong because that would make me feel a lot better about Goodson.

2010 attempts

Stewart 178

Goodson 103

DWill 87

Fox doesn't want him. And if you wave the kid in front of any other team, they'd be like. "Who?". I want D-Lo, Stewie, and Goodson here. Use him as a Bush type player as other have said and not even really see him as a runner. Let Double Trouble handle that and he can give other team's D coach a headache just like Bush does.

7 fumbles from 103 touches means that once every 15 times Goodson touches the ball he fumbles. This means if Goodson was a starter based on these stats he would fumble every game. I am hoping he can improve on this but it tough to argue that he doesn't have a fumbling problem.

Peterson didn't fumble much in 2010. You can fix even the worst fumblers. Tiki Barber was a butterfingers and then became a stud by fixing the issue. You can fix that issue....you can't teach the raw talent he has.

This

He had a few games where his handling was fine. He's just young and probably nervous/inexperienced.

Ok Hers the stats on fumbles for all three HB's with Carolina in their first 2 seasons.

Dwill 4 fum 4 lost fum

J Stewart 7 fum 6 lost fum

M Goodson 7 fum 4 lost fum (and this includes kick return fumbles)

So lets drop the wholes fumbling issue and look at what he brings to the table.

Weakness: Spotting blitzs and blocking Sum fumble issues

All of these can be coached and corrected

Strenghts: Speed, Vision, Strength catching, godd size for a HB good lateral movement, Can make quick cuts and regain his top speed quickly.

Are we seeing a parttern here. You dont throw away your insurance plan for an unproven players.

When Dwill and J stewart went down last year it was Goodson that put a spark in the offense. Not Steve smith or King or any other player.

His stats for three games that he was the featured back and the only option we had.

275 yards Rushing on 59 carries thats 4.7 yards average

125 yards recieving on 16 receprions 8 yards per catch

two 100 yard games agaist to the ravens and Tampa bay (who always plays us tuff against the run)

You listed the fumbles for 09 and 10. That's not Williams and Stewarts first two years in the league. And in those two years Williams had 343 touches, Stewart had 427 touches, and Goodson had 232 touches. So he has as many fumbles as stewart with almost 200 less touches. It can be fixed but I would consider that a fumbling problem.

I agree with you 100% but I just wanted to set the record straight that Goodson DOES have a fumbling problem at this point in his career. Players like Tiki Barber and Peterson were pro bowl running backs before their fumbling problem reared its ugly head. Someone that doesn't have those credentials like Goodson will be on a shorter leash.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
