Adrian Peterson compares the NFL to "modern day slavery"

Quoted in PFT (link)

“It’s modern-day slavery, you know?” Peterson said. “People kind of laugh at that, but there are people working at regular jobs who get treated the same way, too. With all the money . . . the owners are trying to get a different percentage, and bring in more money.”

The comments were made to Yahoo's Doug Farrar, who pulled them from the posted interview (link) saying he wanted to give Peterson the opportunity to "clarify" his comments.

Right.... because as slaves, they can't quit whenever they want, endure horrible working conditions, were forced into servitude against their will, and cannot own anything including their children?

NFLPA is right to want to keep current players silent on the issue. I'm waiting on the multi-millionaire to slip up and have their "I got kids to feed" comment.

These "pro athletes as slaves" comments from people like Jesse Jackson in reference to LeBron James and now Adrian Peterson is bottom-feeding stuff. There are tens of thousands of people dead or dying in Japan. Civil war has broken out across Africa. Kids are starving to death in Haiti. There are legitimate slaves being trafficked all around the world including in the USA, mostly children. And let's not even forget how badly off the US economy continues to be with millions of people forced to live off the government because they can't find a job. And these entitled, pathetic, real life trolls that were lucky enough to have enough talent handed to them in their DNA to go make tens of millions of dollars to go play games like basketball and football immediately play the "slave" card the second there is the slightest obstacle in their lives. This stuff makes me sick. I would NEVER buy a jersey of some sickeningly entitled little brat of a troll to give them one single dollar. I hope there's no Panther that feels the same way.
